Giving Power To The Players

<div class="IPBDescription">And its in the correct forum too :P</div> Perhaps the development team should make a list of all the potential things that might be seriously changed ie. balances, changes, addons etc. and let the NS gamers vote on it at the NS main site.

This is was done sucessfully with other games such as EA's Battlefield 1942.

They listed 30 or so possilbe changes or subjects that players/dev. team had wanted and they let them vote. They then had a somewhat accurate way to measure and prioritize what areas of the game to work on in later versions. It would also make summmarizing all the data from these forums easier as well. Plus then us players can't complain if we dont like future changes, no one to blame but ourselves. Anyway this would take some pressure off of the Dev. team. They have made one heck of a game so give us the chance to help out.

I like this idea. Give the players a chance to vote on, say, the thing they want the most, and the thing they want the least, so that the developers won't have to waste time removing something that ultimately the playerbase dislikes.

    22nd rule of development:

    Users don't always know best

Mind you, user feedback is critical. But a lot of times users just don't have the whole picture in mind. As it stands it seems the forums give a pretty good indication of what the user base wants/needs. I'm sure the dev team will prioritize their work based on what the mod needs to succeed and what the user base wants. Adding voting for features will just add more unnecessary process to the dev cycle.

Flayra is gonna make his game to his own vision...not to what everyone else thinks. I dont think anyone here was happy to see the PG lose 1500hp.....except maybe the aliens, who would laugh after taking one down in under 10 seconds...heh, with that change I cant even tell the team on voice comm the PG is under attack...by the time they try to phase there, its already gone.

I think that all the users can do is post so much on certain topics that the dev's HAVE to consider what the players are saying. For example, the skulk teeth thread.

I think its a good idea. Flayra can certainly make the game in his own vision, but hes also designing a game others will WANT to play, otherwise there is no point to making the game. The phase gate life cut was to simply make the "phase rush" harder to do, and it worked (maybe TOO well, I think another 500 life would be nice).

If you make a game no one wants to play...that game is a "failure", so I see nothing wrong with public voting on changes, we play the game...probably everyday, we know what works, what doesn't, whats "cheap", whats impossible from experience...and we find ways to do things that "aren't intended". Sometimes we know these things better than the Devs (until we tell them about it), so we truely are the best source of what might be good and bad for NS. <shrug> It is his game, and I have pretty good convidence in Flayra (although another hold over patch would be nice since 1.1 is taking a long time and we need SOME changes right now).

Hmm...Well aren't these forums a type of "voting"? I mean...you get to speak out your voice and your thoughts and ideas. Maybe if you are lucky enough, you might get a dev to scratch his head and say "Hey...I never thought of that." Maybe for some of the aspects that won't make a HUGE impact on the game players could vote for it... But I really think the forums are all we need to make our voices heared.

This aint A Tale In The Desert, it's NS. It's up to the devs what go in the game and I like it that way. Honestly, I don't want to see plasma rifles show up because 500 new people think they're cool. My opinion's the same as when someone's back-seat comming: "Back off and let the guy do his job how he wants to."

i dont trust people on the internet to decice the fate of this game,

people come from CS, they will want CS things.... a vote (with CS gamers in charge) will KILL this game i dearly love.

    so no, do not vote

    (look at the 2001 election)

Lol let me restate somethings about this post, snce I wrote it.

In terms of things to be considered to be voted upon I said "reasonable" so that really stuid things like plasma rifles wouldnt even be included lol, and also A straight vote could just to fiels Flayras new ideas or just to se how people owuld react to his game. Like a poll for the news. Just because its in the poll doenst mean it has to be in the game.

Thats all, thanks for the feedback.

i trust that the devolopers will keep the game fun and great. If they don't then i won't play, and some one else will, theres enough games out there that your idea of fun has been covered in one way or another. So i say let them choose how to run their game, and just listen to our feedback.
