We have to drastically reduce the polies. We can probably take a huge chunk off if we remove the Gauss rifle from the marines hand. We can even use the gauss rifle most likely. Although theres another gauss rifle in these forums that look just as nice. We need to convert, probably animate, reskin (IMO, the skin kinda looks like crap)
Oh and if you didn't know, there is also a Mutalisk model (19000 polies), bunker model (17300 polies) turret model (32400 polies) as well as some Protoss buildings. And of course, credit must go to the modeller who created the site
We can probably use all of these in one way or another, especially the mutalisk, it will end the debate of what will replace the lerk once and for all! Long Live the Mutalisk!

There is no way to convert it. You can't even load the model in milkshape, it's so big. I say start from scratch, use low poly methods. It's not that big of a job, but will require effort. Besides, the author would never agree to let us use it. He doesn't want us butchering his model. It says so in the readme. Only use it for art, or whatnot.

Also on a side note, if/when animation begins for the Hydralisk model starts, if you watch the Amerigo scene you'll notice that the hydralisks are not using their tails to propel themselves forwards. Instead they're using their claws to dig into the ground and pull themselves forwards (kind of like stilts)
i'm working on that marine... i'm cuttin out polies at the moment.... i've got no idea how to model in Gmax, so i'm just cutting things out, then exporting into MS3D.... i'll further reduce polies in that sukka....

Another issue is that today, I've seen another model of the Canister rifle posted. It's nice but... If two people make the same things, this community project will take a lil longer. All this is alot of work and I need to know what people want or are willing to make to find any good reference pics. It never hurts to try Roadmaster and unless you've tried it, I wouldn't open my mouth about whats possible or not. People are posting here to offer any help or constructive comments or comments in general to show interest in this project to help the modellers, skinners, and animators willing to create a StarCraft pack and although they may have little to no skills in modelling, they help in other ways. Nobody pleaded with anyone to do anything. This was a suggestion topic to see who was interested in doing something like this and they came to offer their time and skills to complete this model pack. I don't see where people said something like "Please create starcraft models or I'll just die" in this thread, in this forum yes theres plenty, but not only for games but for other models too like Aliens (big example). Besides, if we can't use the models from the Art of Gaming website, we can just make our own using the AoG website models as references.

Poly cruncher would deform the model and it'll need more reworking than starting from scratch to make it look right. Things will just fall out of place, there will be gaps all over the place. One of the problems with applying this model to half-life, is too many empty polys. Polys you can't even see. Like the head, which can be deleted yes, but there are others. Like the spaces behind the knee-pads etc...
