:D
Okay, here's the deal:
We need to get a group of people together who want to have some multiplayer fun with this totally kick-**** game. Then we need to find a server. Then we need to engage in games like:
Deathmatch
Team games
Attack the battleship
I've got one idea for a cool team game:
Two or more teams race to amass the most credits in a set time limit (I know this'll have to be on the honor system, but it would be so much fun)
Anyone agree? Other ideas?

Ideas on what we play first, and what day?
Sunday night maybe?
BTW this game is really smart! Been playing the demo for ages and it seems promising.
But if I hear "we dont own the place, but we have an understanding with those who do" as frequently as I heard it in the demo... heads will roll, people will die, DEATH AND DISTRUCTION WILL BEFAL--- oh look a cupcake!
ALA MMORPG without the entire thing being online?

Every server you log onto is persistent. The downside is that you have to make a new character on each...but I have an idea about that, too.
If we get a few good servers, we could swap character files between them every so often. So all your chars are on all our servers. Sounds good in theory anyway.
The thing I really like about Freelancer multiplayer is that it's just open. You can do pretty much whatever you can imagine. So if we get some people together, we're not forced to play games like Cap the Flag or Deathmatch, but those options still exist.
Of course, all the scoring will have to be on the honor system, but that's not a problem.
But its only a matter of time before someone cracks it so individual files can be swapped...
I wonder if this game can be modded... hmmmmmmmmmmmm....
Freelancer is not an MMO, since it isn't, it doesn't come with a monthly fee. DirectX 9 is great, too.
NWN style multiplayer.
Kick *** graphics.
Great economy and fighting.
I may just join you guys sometime if I can get the cash up to buy the game.

Probably just fine - I got a similar system and I´m running the game with all settings maxed at a res of 1024x768. Only when I fly VERY close to a jumphole the fps will drop but you can avoid that easily.
The game seems to adjust the LOD on the fly though as sometimes details like the direction lights on a tradelane wont show.
Anyway, do not buy the game if you´re expecting an Elite like spacesim! It´s a space shooter with a compelling though short storyline and some trading thrown in.
The multiplayer can be fun but due to the static economy it´s too easy to reach the higher levels (since your net worth equals your level) and just buy yourself one of the two best ships. At that point the game becomes utterly boring: There are only few types of random missions - the only payoff being an increase reputation with the offering faction because money just doesn´t matter any more.
Freelancer just seems like it´s not been finished yet; the basics are done well but a lot of opportunities were missed along the road. Hope Microsoft keeps up with their long tradition of patches and updates
The game runs SMOOTH. the only time i get any slowdown is when there is too many lensflares onscreen.

TNT2 Pro 16mb
800mhz
I run it in 1024 with everything in the details section at max and it runs without choppiness or anything, smoooooth.
Handle= Unknown. Same with you SentrySteve and Highlander.
Anyone know where to buy the best cargo ship(s) and the best fighter ship(s)?
