...and...
i found out if i hold down spacebar nonstop, i will never run out of fuel (or whatever it is) and fall.
specs are as follow:
amd 2400xp
radeon 9700 pro
512 dual ddr
so... can anyone else do this? i always tap with the JP.. and look at my teammates, wondering why they suck so much at JPing!

Essentially with 99 fps your jetpack fuel should never run out if you use it properly.
are you serious?
btw y the fk are u running games off of freggin server hardware if thats true
no seriosuly i'm freaking crying.
Hopefully flayra can fix this problem. Apparently your jp fuel recharge, alien energy recharge, and build speed are all dependant on FPS.
i think thats it. there is a command to change it.
Ah, so you don't spend money on food. Slvelte thin figure AND outrageously overpowered gaming computer! Two birds with one stone. Try running Morrowind with maxed settings in the background. Even a Cray will choke and wither, eventually dying, on that load.
:-)
God I wish I could afford such nice things. I get ~70-80 fps, and I DO run out of Jetpack fuel and fall to untimely death, though not for a few seconds after the meter says I run out.
athalon 1800+
512 DDR Ram
Gf4 MX 440 (craaaaaap)
7200 RPM 100 gig HD
I run in 1024x768 32bit
I don't believe the alien abilities or build rate are FPS-based. I haven't heard anything, anywhere, to point to it.. and I would be very surprised if that were true.
we also confirmed that build rates are faster with high fps at least for marines. however many things are not affected like rate of fire or how long it takes aliens to chomp or spike something to death, and it didn't affect energy levels or the flight of the lerk.
there now i've done the report. no need for the guy who said he was going to do it to do it now. btw it is totally ridiculous that anyone would limit their fps to fix this problem. we need to fix this problem properly so stop trying to ruin things for us. besides you pay all this money for a graphic card that can do high fps and then you limit the fps??! that's sickening to us people that can't afford those powerful graphic cards. btw since half-life has limited it's fps to 99 for some bizarre reason those people with extremely powerful graphic cards should use the power of their graphic cards to give them more detail by increased resolution and increased anti-aliasing if that works in half-life (i dunno if that works my graphic card isn't powerful enough) otherwise you are just wasting your graphic card. i dunno if limiting the fps might make your graphic card run cooler though. can someone give us info on that?
jk
but yes my FPS is THAT low .. ****

Playing with a low framerate is not a skill, it is an imposed handicap on skill.
Were everyone to play at 20fps, differences in skill between veteran and new players would be less noticable, and players with more refined fps ability would not be rewarded for it as much as they currently are. This is due to the handicap imposed on all players. You could say, if everyone ran at 20fps, that combat ability would not be as important (due to the much smaller gap between those with/without combat ability) and consequently the game may be said to involve less depth.
With everyone on 99fps, there are fewer limitations on combat ability, and players with better combat ability have a more significant advantage. You can liken it to a proffesional football team versus a sunday league football team. When does the sunday league team have the best chance of winning? On a perfect pitch under ideal conditions, or playing on a muddy field, while both teams wear large clown shoes?
Erm, and thats not really related to jetpacks so i think im off topic. So just to be in-keeping with the tone of the thread:
:DD !
roofle!11
haha
:)
(I haven't played on a low fps for some time, but i have played on 56k for a while, which is a similar kind of thing)
the team are addressing the jp problem in 1.1 by introducing the "no refuel in mid air" feature (correct me if im wrong on that)
I have not seen any dev statement implying this, only murmers or suggestions from people who are not affiliated with the dev team. What they intend to do with JPs is currently unknown.
Yea, its called Direct3D :)
I dont have a Flayra quote or anything, but why the hell is the fuel meter on the JP, if someone with 99 FPS can hover forever. It also presents different players with differing PCs advantages/disadvantages.
I'm not sure how much of one that is - never having to land certainly helps against skulks, but floating in the air forever isnt the end all be all uber-power. Maybe on some Hive assaults it is? I dunno. I sure like my JPs, but I'm constantly landing/lifting off when I use them - not because I have low FPS, just because I've not tried the 'hover forever' trick.
TeoH,
LOL.

Editing to add: whoops, this was in response to Soldier of Misfortune's post.

Was it so hard to do a search? I knew it was true, but i knew you wouldnt be convinced without your "dev team statement"
couldnt find one, but here is a similar forum post with a demo.
