Or you mean like a sub-test thing so you can see if you like it without taking the time to download the whole thing?
Download the whole thing, trust me -
BTW, I assume by demo, you mean to be included in a magazine or something so dial-uppers (or people that don't have halflife)* can try it.
*Well, in theory they may exist... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

No I mean a playable demo that DOESN'T require you to have the original Half-Life. TFC had something like this. It's a stand-alone version of NS.
EDIT: What I mean by demo is a shareware DOWNLOAD on one of the servers. It allows you to play NS WITHOUT buying Half life, but you would be restricted to only x number of maps.
However in hindsight: TFC was originally with Half Life right? So offering the demo was Sierra's way of saying "you may not like first person single player, but maybe our neat multiplayer will entice you!".
TFC was never marketed in stores and they still had a stand alone demo. The reason was because it enticed people to buy the Half Life, so they could have all maps.

TFC was made by valve, as kenichi mentioned flayra has no right to release a "NS demo".
Yes, and look what happened to Counter-Strike...
the llamas will come....and they will destroy.
Yes, this is what I thought may have been the road block. Oh well, Half Life costs like, what $20 these days?
NS dosent use anything from Half-Life I think, not even the halflife.wad, so its pretty much just the Half-Life graphics engine runnning the thing. Could always buy the half-life engine, it can't be that expensive, I mean its built on the friggin Quake 1 engine!
Of course, there is the sneaky way of someone making the "unofficial" NS demo...
-Need a custom default .wad with sky, clipping, and trigger textures.
-Delete the valve folder, minus the above .wad file.
-Include the default sprites (I think NS still uses some of these?).
-Include server files.
-Hack something with WON, so Half-Life could be playable in multiplayer (duh). Can't use a fake WON ID, because anyone with the demo would have that WON ID.
Erm....thats pretty much it I would guess?
That was really uncalled for. If he wants to pirate Halflife, it's easy to get CD keys.
