<div class="IPBDescription">for those inexperienced and newbs..</div> OKAy:
your first weapon as an alien is always availible
the first weapons is always a close combat weapon, and for gorge it's a ranged
your seond weapon is usuable when you have 1 hive, and you start out with 1 hive
second weapon is a ranged weapon for all aliens!
your 3rd weaon can only be used by getting 2 FULLY built hives
3rd weapon is a special ability for that type of alien your using
and finally, your 4th weapon can be obtained by getting 3 fully built hives
your 4th weapon is the ultimate special ability
and now, to tell you about each specie's abilities. I have named each ability in order, so you will know which ability requires how many hive(s) or nothing.
Skulk:
Bite: a close combat weapon used by many 2 species. Does 75 damage as a skulk.
Parasite: a ranged weapon that does 10 damage and puts that marine you just hit on a permanent hive sight, until the target has died. Parasite cannot be taken off.
Leap: The skulk does a long leap, slashing foward. the damage is the number of touches x 4. If you manage to do a full leap damage, than you have successfully did 16 damage. Leap last for one full second. This is not used for killing, but for advantages in combat and hiding/ambushes.
Xenocide: The Ultimate skulk ability. This causes the skulk to do a mini onos scream, and within 1 second, the skulk Explodes, doing serious damage. It does 200 damage in the middles, and people in the radious may take less damage. this ability also does double (400) to marine buildings.
Special Skulk Ability: the skulk is able to climb on any surface. that includes floors, walls, ceilings, and buildings.
Lerk:
Bite: the second specie who uses this ability. The lerk has less teeth, so the bite does only 50 damage, not the damage that his lesser cousin (skulk) does.
Spike shoot: The lerk shoots spiks at a very fast rate. the spike shoots like an arrow, meaning that the longer it goes, the lower the spike gets. SO when shooting long ranged, shoot a lil higher to hit the target.
Umbra: the lerk sprays out orange-yellow smoke/bacteria, and this special smoke/bacteria causes marine bullets to slow down incredible, and all the way to a complete stop. It's still possible for bullets to get thru the umbra without slowing down, so when you umbra, that does'nt mean your completely invurnable to bullets. Anything marine weapon that doesn't use bullets can get thru the umbra. That includes welders, knives, and grenades
sry, i gotta go, ill make a complete guide later..

Comments
Spores: shoots an invisible projectile which travels in a straight line and explodes into a cloud of green gas when it hits. the spore cloud will damage any marine standing in it, and they will keep taking damage for as long as they are in the cloud. spores do not effect structures.
Fade:
Claw swipe: slashes at your enemies with your claws
Acid rocket: shoots out a waterballoon-like thingy full of acid. travels in a straight line, does splash damage.
Blink: teleports you to where you fire. you can find more details about how blink actually works elsewhere on these forums.
Bile Bomb: launches an acid rocket in an arc, which does about double the damage of an acid rocket, has a wider damage radius and does increased damage to buildings
note: your melee attack does more damage per energy per second than any other weapon. There's no point in using acid rocket when claws will do.
I don't know the order for Onos, since I never play it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Except for gorge <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> (heal spray)

Damage is same as skulk IMO. The text says that damage is 50, but it is 75.

Acid rocket damage is 50. Bile bomb damage is 40 for marines, but double vs. structures.

Onos:
Horn: (not sure for the name), does 120 damage per hit
Paralyze: Freezes marine in 6 seconds. He is unable to move, but can still shoot.
Charge: Damages everyone who touches you. Doesn't do damage on buildings. (it will drain all of your energy)
Primal Scream: Boosts your speed, energy recharges faster and you hit much faster. It also boost everyone who is near you when you use that ability. (drains all energy too)
Now that's a sucky explanation...
hehe
Here's a slightly better
It starts draining energy and then you run forward damaging anything you touch until you're energy runs out
Your explanation sounded like you would lose all your energy and then do damage to anyone touching you for the next couple of seconds...
Like you got electrocuted or something...

Haha.. then youve obviously never used an onos correctly.
How does the armor system work? If I had a Skulk with 70 HP and no carapace (10 Armor taking 30% dmg)... Would that mean 1 LMG shot would do 7 damage to HP and 3 damage to Armor and then some 4.286 damage disappears? If I had 70 HP and Level 3 Carapace (30 Armor takes 60% damage), would that mean 1 LMG shot would do 2.285 dmg to HP, 3.429 dmg to Armor, and 8.571 dmg disappears?
Like, does damage disappear if you have armor? Or does it just go into your Armor as damage?
Onos are the deadliest species!!!
An Onos with Adrenaline, Carapace, and Cloaking can kick butt soooo bad... The Adrenaline lets you attack for longer periods of time (think up to 4x as long since energy recovery is 4x)... You can charge for like 15-20 seconds with adrenaline upgrade... The Carapace gets you up to 350 armor, that's 500 HP with 350 Armor at 60% damage reduced... That's 850 HP!!!
All you hafta do is have a Fade or another Onos to share the marine's shooting... Just Primal scream, wait for energy to recover (takes like 5-7 secs) then just charge in, first go for the people (takes less than 1 sec to die) then just keep walking into buidlings (hold forward arrow)... You might want to keep swinging your mouse left and right (cause you'd slide to the side of a buidling if you don't walk directly on a side of it)... There goes a marine base in under 20 secs... Wait for some energy back, then horn everything to death (respawned marines take 2 hits to kill)...
Some errors have already been corrected, I won't post about them again. However...

Acid rocket does 60 damage. Changed in 1.01 if I remember correctly.
Re: leap and charge, they deal their specified damge per 'touch' as noted. A touch is a collision between the player and an other object. The HL engine detects collision multiple times per second. Charge lasts as long as your energy does, i'm not sure about leap. It's either time based or until you hit the floor again. Seeing as you can stand on structures and 'leap' at them I guess its time based, but I don't know for certain.

Marines and their structures light up like christmas trees.
They regen fast like gnasox ! ( new word )

i have often used the onos but I just don't think it ever fun. *scream* *paralyse paralyse* chaaaaarge nothing left. Is that really fun? and yes I do think I use an onos correctly
I really love the challenge given by each other evolution.
skulk: well its small size. I love leaping all over and yet trying to survive.
gorge: well the fact one mistake could lead your team the game. and the fact that its fun to web a whole team for ages.
lerk: again, its small size. skulk is more fun for pub play tho imo
fades: its close combat side. especially blinking, hitting and leaving. for example a couple of fades acid rocket at eclipse main marine base. you blink all the way across, they dont notice (lol) and get them from behind.
onos: nothing really. If you get onos you deserve to win anyhow... I never play this except when we decide to all go onos <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
edit: ah I see you think I mean it sucks because it sucks.. no its very powerful but whats the bloody point of playing if you dont have fun?
When you press your flashliht key as an alien, it makes friendly units (players and structures) light up and turn transparent. All Advanced Hivesight does is make marines and marine structures light up as well.
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->How does the armor system work?<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Armour varies totally. As far as I know, marine armour upgrades not only add to your maximum armour capacity but also to the damage the armour is capable of absorbing. Carapace DEFINATELY works this way. Further carapace enhancements actually decrease the damage you take, as well as increasing your armour. So the reason why, say, a Fade with carapace lasts so much longer than one without is that even though the change is only 125 armour to 150 armour it's something like a 33% increase to damage absorption. I think the manual has the exact numbers (but they may be out of date). It was recently fixed so that if you don't have armour you will recieve no protection from it (it was a bug). I seem to recall taking 27 damage from a single bullet as an un-carapaced skulk without any armour left.
To actually work out the damage, you have to consider what it actually is. marine armour upgrades, heavy armour, alien armour and carapace are all different.

The idea of the onos is to go and kill things quickly and WIN, if you prefer, try winning with a skulk/lerk/fade/gorge rush. Or just dont attack as an onos and support one as a lerk or fade.
Endgame is funnier using the other classes imho. 4 weapons of doom... Xenocide , Babbler , Spore , Bilebomb. The funniest abilities to use... explode a bunch of soldiers , have minions ganging on them , poison them , or shoot alien heavy artillery...
Charge the moment you enter their base (increase runnign speed so you reach their buidlings faster)... Ignore nayone with a LMG (they don't hurt too much anyways), and just keep running against the buidlings... Go for the IP's if they aren't too much of a problem to reach... And you can take out respawning marines at the same time... It's easier on 1 level bases (not hera or caged) to run down the whole base with 1 charge...
Onos Strat: Just charge the closest object in their base!!!
