us gamers.
This is a message to the NS players of the world and gamming community.

We gamers are a major subculture in the world. (It may sound dorky but its true) It is not uncommon to go into a server and play with friends from all over the world.
I myself have met great friends who live in germany, Switzerland, and the UAE.
We gamers are indivuals as well as part of a great group. We are friends, people from all over the world who come to servers of any game to meet new people, make friends, play, and have fun. We are of many ages, languages, races, cultures. But in the end we are all gamers. For the greater part we get along and make the gaming community thrive.

No matter what happens remember, wherever you live no matter WHAT COUNTRY you live in people will have their opinions. Governments will chose actions that will affect all our lives whether its people support it or not. Lets not generalize entire nations populations by the actions of its leaders.

Remember, when you exit that server and turn off your PC for the day remember your friends, all your friends. When you leave that PC you live your own lives. But no matter what uniform you may wear, what flag you stand under, or what language you speak, we are all gamers at heart.

Its a shame governments couldnt solve their problems in a computer game. Gamers would rule the world!

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THIS POST INTO A HUGE ANTI/PRO WAR DEBATE. I JUST WANT YOU PEOPLE TO THINK
BEFORE YOU TALK. BECAUSE I CAN SEE THE HUGE ARGUEMNTS AND INSULTS THAT ARE ABOUT TO COME POLLUTE THE GAMEING SERVERS.

USA and Iraq agree to sort the current crisis out by playing CS but the USA lose and resort to accusing Iraq of being H4x0r5 and campers.

I have to agree with DAvis. The gaming community is the largest and should be a bunch of relaxed guys, although it is full of immature players, which have to learn a lot.
But as an ex-clan gamer I have to admit that there are a lot of interesting guys to be found in the community, especially when you are mapping or modelling, because then you meet people who are willing to contribute something to make the community stay alive.
I will think about this. After all, we are on the net to have FUN together and not to grow anger and resentment.
As a german speaking person I had my problems too, being called nazi on US and UK servers isnt the nicest thing in the world.

I hope team oriented games, like NS help in forming a better community of people who learn to trust each other and respect eachother, while I dont like individual deathmatch games with the "I 0wn U" "U sux" attitude of the more experienced gamers, because it is not about socializing and having fun together, but having fun by humiliating others.... this isnt bad in every aspect, but this theme is covered in better team games as well.

yeah, and i had a laugh to when I read the suggestion about bush and saddam playing CS ...

LOL, the US would lose to Iraq? Dude, even fiction has its limits. They are on 1400 baud modems over there. A 486 is the equivalent of our Pentium 4. Were talking a whopping MEG of video ram.

I definately think champion fighting through video games is the way to go.

Of course, we'd have to kidnap Boxer from the koreans for any sort of RTS game.... that dude is freaking insane.

Proof that the world would be a disaster if it was run through games.

Let's not get all antsy about CS like we have the moral authority. Bad admins happen in all popular mods.

i am the only one i know that is into PC. games. everybody where i go to school tells me "PCs are crap, you cant control FPS with keyboard". and the ever popular line "PCs are the worst thing to play online with"

i am the only person out of my friends that even plays video games at all.

that one deserves a big LOL.

I can't believe anyone would play FPS on a console...golden eye and halo are the only fps i can stand to play on any console, and even then golden eye imo isn't great. All my friends at college agree that consoles are definitely not for strategy/FPS games...and somehow I know a lot of gamers (although most of them aren't 'hardcore').

    Asterisk, DO NOT LOSE HOPE

TRUST ME, BELIEVE ME, PC IS THE WAY

    lol lol!!!!

I dunno if you know anything about PC "history"
If you need help let us know

But seriously, those guys are nutcases
I guarantee you that if anybody could be placed into a console FPS using keyboard/mouse they would pwnz0r like no tomorrow -

    O M G
They sound very young and inexperienced - not trying to place myself above. But if you understand PC/gaming history at all..

    O M G

    O M G
WHERE do they think FPS came from - and where did the Internet come from

I had a very strange upbringing now that I look at it - I grew up surrounded by technology and the belief in technology

(i hope i dont lose)

You poor people. I am at a school in the middle of nowhere, and everyone plays games of some sort. One of my friends runs a LAN game at his house every three weeks and at least 12 people show up everytime. And for the people that think consoles are better for fps, just wait for console/pc games that ofer cross platform online play. HAHAHA sniping with a little gamestick... I can't wait to make the 12 yearolds go crying to their parents hehehe.
Gameplay hasn't reached the stage where it can be used for global confilicts. Doesn't anyone remember the star trek where they used simulations to avoid having to rebuild when two planets attacked each other.

There was a movie like that, called "futuresport." The premise was that, in the future, a bunch of Hawaiian seccessionist terrorists wanted to split from the US, and the fate of Hawaii was ultimately decided on by the outcome of a futuristic, even-more-violent varient of hockey. The movie sucked major bollocks

IIRC it "starred" Dean Cain and Wesley Snipes. It was veeeerrrrryyyy bad. Greenpeace tried to get the film banned on the grounds it was using too much wood.

However, having seen many of the perfomances by these "actors" it seem to be a renewable resource
