First Computer

<div class="IPBDescription">geekier version of that other thread...</div> I had an Atari 800XL
It displayed 16 colours! Although the bright pink made it make a slightly worrying high pitched whine...

And for bonus points, did you program on it? I did on the Atari, but since I was only 7, I remember working out that you could use variables to store the location of the player on the screeen came as a complete revelation to me.

Oh, and does anyone else remember Ork Attack? It doesn't emulate properly, but only in a very subtle way, which also makes it a stupid game to play.

<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>... sorry, I've been to the pub... </span>

My first computer was a Tandy. No idea what model it was or nothing. All I can remember was a lay down case with the keyboard attached to it. The monitor was like 12 inches and black and white. The mouse (heh) was cube with one button and a steel ball. (And it rarely worked properly)

The first computer I "programmed" on was when I was playing around with qbasic on my old 486. (Basically took "nibbles" and made it easier/harder)

TI994a. Yep. Texas Instruments. One of the first "home computers" ever produced. I programmed all kinds of games on it and had to save every program to cassette tape, which sometimes took 10 minutes. It also used cartridges for games, extended BASIC, and things like speech emulation. Tunnels of Doom was a great (and my first) RPG on that platform that sucked up weeks of my time.

Prolly didn't make it across the pond, but my first was a BBC model B. I did program on it in BASIC (10 GOTO 20) it had a seperate tape drive and 64k of RAM.....

    Then a BBC master

    Then a Commodore Amiga,

    Then a 486 25mhz IIRC

    Then current p3

Come April I get a new machine.....
