yes, but it will render 30 pictures that will be 1 second, so get a big harddrive <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
from what i've seen. No. this is the only way and it takes time and effort. I've made lots of movies this way and its not all that bad... Just a little confusing the first few times...
btw, what do you do to get demo sounds out so you can add them back later? I'm still a little 'iffy' on this topic...

Make sure you install the newest DiVX bundle, it'll cut down you compile time and increase quality. It also helps with file-size.
Simply select DiVX when choosing your codec. I used <a href='http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~csmovies/videomach1.php' target='_blank'>http://dynamic4.gamespy.com/~csmovies/videomach1.php</a> on my first movie.
If you've ever seen the cs_militia movies, they preserved sound by exporting to a digital camera, then importing. Other than that kind of skillful measure, you're not gonna pull off good sound that was in your demo. It's why a lot of CS movies you see are completely silent short of the music they play.
k, I get the error "Client world model is NULL" any suggestion?
It is a 45 mg demo of me killing 7 hives in one game...I don't want to lose it. When I play the file, I only see the console. Does anyone think it is b/c I play on voogru's servers and I need the dll?
Who wants to try converting this...let alone getting it to play?

I've had this happen to me before. I'm not exactly sure, but I do believe it was a little something added so you could scroll through the demo, i.e. rewind and fastforward and stuff like that. Sadly, I think this is a small incompatibility with Geekplay and NS. When you do the TimeDemo or startmovie command, you'll see the console on frames that aren't being exported to .bmp files. Then when you remove the console by pressing ~, it will export those frames. In a sense, you're editing what you want to convert and what you don't. Do some google searches for CS movie tutorials. It's the same exact method for any halflife mod
E-Th33ph has said the problem is that I had sound probably running when I started the demo. Are there any d3m0-h4x0rs out there? Any body wanting to give it a shot IM me at AIM: JackIsTall.
Yeah. From what I saw of the demo, it appeared that someone was using the voicecomm when he started recording. Instead of crashing Halflife, like it does to many people, it did record the demo, but fails to show any rendering at all. You get only console and can hear sounds of the game. If anyone is able to hack the demo into working condition, you're a demo god.

and it goes to avi, not mpeg. then later you can re-encode it to whatever.
i apologize for this not-helpful post.
1. record your demo
2. set your screen to something like 320x240, if you want normal text proportions you can try with 640x480
3. bind x "startmovie file 25"
where 25 is the framerate and file the prefix of the BMPs
3. playdemo yourdemo
4. press "x"
5. wait till trhe demo is finished
6. endmovie
7. you got many BMP files in your HL directory called something like file0000.bmp - fileXXXX.bmp
8. open Aobe Premiere or Fast Movie processor (this one is freeware for non-commercial use) and convert these BMP files to an AVI or MPEG
9. if you want sound, you can use total recorder.
is there any other way? like .. some software that does it all for me? plus adds the sound?
