Hey, great lighting! The colors are perfect. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
A bit square-ish at the moment, But the lighting is very good I love the contrasts of the purpleish walls and the green monitors on them. And you have the yellow, white, and green lights all in one scene, yet they work very well together. great job

... and smurfs.
If you're implying that it is too friendly looking, well... not any more than some of the official map's areas, is it? A map can have it's softer sides. I can specifically pick out "softer" areas in Hera, Bast, and Freon. I'm working on my own "more-friendly-area" right now too. So long as it doesn't look like, erm.. a McDonald's playpen or a glossed up city bank... It's fine. Just make sure there's some heavy or dirty stuff in there too.
[evil] Like Andrew's doing with... oh, nevermind... [/evil]
I shouldn't be the person trying to push this point, but from what I've seen of the big NS maps so far, there is a path that distinctly favors the Marines with a fair amount of light, and a few that are very dark and perfect for the alien attack.
And does a bit of light actually matter that much? If there is a Bob at the origin of that blue tinted light, and you just run by, you'll still be in trouble.

Yes, it is pretty much how they are (the official levels). But just to clarify my position again... I'm 100% all for dirty, dark, and creepy places. An entire map should not be pretty and cozy. Some parts can be though... like bast's bright-white hallway, hera's new computery room, etc. Just make sure there's good heavy stuff too. Like hera's elephant room, bast's refinery etc.

are those console things on the left and in the backround of the picture actual 'bumps', if not i suggest you make them bumps
great work <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

They are, actually, though it's not something you'll notice if you don't get up close and move around a bit. They're func_walls, so there's no extra shadow or anything to help the depth perception.

I was actually going to try and find some little friendly fuzzy animals I could toss in, but I ended up not taking the time to do so. <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

Hard to tell sarcasm apart from humor over the internet. I still say smurfs would fit nicely though.

Yeah.
I hope that since this is all we'll see for awhile, it means you'll just be getting to work.

Looks nice, but is it really your style KFS?
(besides, a 4 unit ridge wouldn't exactly give much shadowing anyway)

I've never seen so much nice texturing/textures in <s>a HL mod since Buzzybots</s> any HL mod before seeing NS map screenies.
