Specifically the red marine w/jetpack
I have been playing NS since it came out publically and I have only seen this wierd character model a few times. I saw it again tonight and I took a screenshot. He only seems to show up in ready rooms and there is only 1 of him around. As you can see in the screenshot, I am using the AVP model for my regular marines so I have no idea why this model is even showing up in the first place. Any ideas?

Yea, i see some strange models too. Sometimes i have that regular marine in ready room (i use that same skin as you do) and sometimes if someone goes in to a com chair that character changes to that Daemon Elite black marine

I've seen D and O chambers that are bright scarlet, even in shadow, or where a red light source is absent.

Perhaps its the radiation....

look through your config file and find the 'highresmodels' or something like that and set it to 0 instead of 1. Then marines will only have jps when they actually DO have jps.

I usually see the basic marines when the game ends. It usually is the commander. (I'm using space marines BTW)

so yall have nonstandard playermodels. thers the problem.

how about this one: totally standard palyer models and occasionally when someone connects they appear as the gordon HLDM model for a sec before switching to the marine (while in readyroom)

People apperaing in the RR as other modles is due to the default modle selected in HL, they usually change pretty quickly as the client loads.

Are you sure it's not just the lighting? I know there are points on some maps where the lighting just turns your model to that colour (i.e. jumping on the boxes in the corner of Reactor Room in tanith)
• tbZBeAsttbZBeAst Join Date: 2003-01-26 Member: 12755Members
nope, I use standard models, and the O chamber I saw was in shadow (the 2 others next to it were nearly black) and one was glowing bright red.

In any case, I think easter egg models would be a nifty idea, kind of like how all the 'nades in TFC become presents of certain dates.

It's not the lighting because I don't even have that model installed!

Cereal, thats probably because the model you downloaded had a **** skin. The red jetpack was probably the server messing with the gamma or something, or rendering problems. I'd have to guess it was the server, because I have a crap video card, but I am always on the same two servers and no one has ever said anything about seeing red jetpackers.

Yes I made a topic about this earlier. Ok we all know that aliens seem to throw their heads around rabidly in the ready room right? They actually do this ingame, but at a much slower rate. Fortunatley the marine models don't do this. But, sometimes when you get either a gordon or a scientist model (all I've seen), they will also perform this rabid head swinging motion. I'll try to get some shotties sometime. I've noticed it happens more when me and someone else join a server after it has started. But that is not always the case.

I've seen the default Half-Life Gordon Freeman model
show up a few times in the Ready Room but that's quite
rare, and when it does happen, its only for a breif second.

Cool little find.

hey.. that all sounds like a cool feature.. make a folder in the NS folder where you can put models in it. Now the other players in the ready room have a random model of those... would be cool

I get that one sometimes. The first time I saw it worried me, but then it changed to the basic marine model.
