sup everyone. this is my very first time ever posting so ill try not to screw up real bad. my dad just got a LAN for our house and we set it up over the weekend. After d/ling HL/CS/NS ect. again i tried to join games over the internet from my new comp. I got all the way to the "initailizing and d/ling" part and then the game quits and says "could not connect to server." even though i can launch my internet browser and get on the internet, none of the HL games/mods work. can n e 1 help me plz.

i think im runnin openGL
i launch NS and click on multiplayer and then internet games. it finds the sever info and brings me to the filter/update/refresh screen. i filter for ns_caged and update. it comes up with a couple of games. i click on one and it starts loading. it continues all the way to the initilizing and downloading part then quits and says cannnot connect to game server: cannot complete connection attempt. other times when it needs to connect to the server at the start it cant. it says retrying whatever the ip address is. so i know it has something to do with the ip addresses but i dont know what it is.
