    This is an e-mail I send to a friend, I edited the clan parts out of it and edited for ur need, hf! (and definitly visit our chan <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> that u see in perform)

    lo

    -
    start mirc
    go to file > options > connect

    then > add:

    Description : GamesNET(or whatever suits ur description needs <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
    IRC server : irc.gamesnet.net
    Port(s) : 6667 (u could also add 6668 and 7000, but its pretty useless)

    press ok and connect to server

    -

    now go to to perform (still in > connect)
    Enable perform on connect (thats a yes)

    then type in the box :

    /nick newbie (or whatever nick u want)
    /j #naturalselection

    (btw, for perform to work u have to reconnect to the server, press on the lightning button under the tab File)
    -

    Now something that is very important also :

    IRC > higlight (still in mirc options)

    Enable higlighting
    and add ur nick

    this will beep u when someone calls u (u could also use ns sounds, i got the ones of the comm when idle "DONT JUST SIT THERE!" and "DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT" <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    U could **** around some more in the options but it wont make u look handsome...

    Or just go to www.xchat.org, and get a client with a clue. ^_^ (Has the Gamesnet servers preloaded, doesn't carry the n00b-funk that mIRC does, etc...)

    Irc is divided into different networks:
    Well there is quakenet, and a few others you dont need to know about now.
    Dont quote me on that but irc.quakenet... is for the 3D-shooter playing community, irc.gamesnet is for game editing.
    All networks working the same way, just using different servers (reelay stations) and are made for different "workgroups".
    When you connect to one server of one network you are connected to the whole network (normally).

    choosing and joining a server:

    file - options - connect + add
    enter this:
    description: "whatever"
    irc server: "irc.quakenet.org"
    ports: "6667"
    group: "group of whatever"
    Click "connect" and wait.
    its quakenet and its war, so you may need to wait an extra time.
    wait till you see a welcome message or the Message of the Day. this means you are connected to the network.
    now enter

    joining a channel , changing the nick ...:

    #channel names always start with an "#".
    Type "/join #naturalselection" in any of the windows.
    to change your nich enter "/nick my-new-nick"
    the "help" menu helps on anything else.

    ok, norn. A quick tip, quite usefull actually:

    When connected to irc.gamesnet.net press the third button from left to right (buttons are below the "file", "tools", "DCC" etc. on the top left part of the mIRC window). Just look at the image below <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->. Then press "add" and type "#evolutionarily" in the "channel:" option and tick the "join channel on connect" then press "ok".

    Do this with every channel you would want to be connected to on connection, saves a lot of time and if you do it in the perform option it happens slower and in alphabetic so it may happen after or before something else you put there. This "else" you will learn of later on.

    yeah it does do it slower (sometimes) but it doesnt do it alphabeticly, it does in the way u want it.
