I went into my ASE program today and it is now 10 bucks a year. After 21 day evaluation. I get a nag screen on my comp saying I should register or it will end in 21 days. I been using it for like 2 years. Is this true or they just pulling our legs? Freak I love my ASE!!

Ditto.
Utility Programs like WinZip are shareware; but it isn't a bad program, just the ads and "rotating buttons" are whats anoying (rotating buttons are buttons that exchange each other, like "Subscribe" and "Later" switch places every time.
There should be one free ware program that does little but the basics, and another pay program that has heaps of functions.
and yes, ASE is pathetic compared to HLLA.
But the difference with hlla and ASE as I see it are the number of games supported?
No games worth mentioning, but I am just trying to justify my purchase =/
1. More games supported
2. More filters that are more advanced than that of hlla.
3. Fileshack integration
4. Buddy list
5. Real-time player searches, more accurate than gametiger.
6. Multiple scanners and pingers to pick from (helps in ping times and accuracy).
7. Live server stats
There are tons of filters in ASE, and you can make your own. $30 isn't that much at all. That's like half of one nights paycheck at a restaurant (McDonalds doesn't count). If you don't like ASE, ok then don't like it, but don't start posting about it and comparing. What's the point? Grow up.
Is that you on the avatar?
/EDIT
Ah, well... I guess I should have put some disclaimer or something so people wouldn't take it too seriously.
If you didn't notice, the avatar above my post shows a beautiful girl.
(Ok, this might be called a prejudice)
As far as I know there aren't that many beautiful girls playing online games like this and then posting stuff like that above.
so.. ah.. ach, nevermind...
it was nothing...

Retarded? Why? They charge money for it, you just get the opportunity to try the program before you buy. Like gane demos. It's like iD usually giving the first episode of its games for free (IIRC, Doom, Quake were shareware, on the full Quake CD there even was a shareware version you were allowed to distribute). Many of the Apogee games were shareware.

Don't let it happen again.
And don't you dare start the 'girl gamers' debate again, or I will be forced to destroy the Internet. Personally. With a digital hammer.
