No Blood?

Why is there no blood when the marines get bitten or something? I know, Flay didn't want blood but WHY didn't he want blood?

This is not a "I WANT F'ING BLOOD NOW" Thread it's more "Why didn't they want blood" thread... Just a question...

    Because the Dev's wanted a PG rating. The "No Blood" issue is a very old one, and will never be changed. It's right up there with the "No Sniper Rifle" of the never-will-be's.

    Besides, the marines are covered in Reactive Nano-Plating, with battle dress beneath. Frell, there are battle suits in development now that automaticly provide first-aid to the injured soldier, staunching blood flow and administering drugs. Think of it as the Frontersmen are usings an advanced form of this experimental technology.

    by not adding blood to the game it becomes a littler more acceptable to a wider audience. i like not having blood, it's a break form all those other bloody/semi-bloody games. but the aliens have alien goo when you shoot them! w00t....gotta love that alien goo

    It is because the irrationalities of the rating system thinks red blood makes it naughty naughty. But green blod is not "realistic" and thus not nauhgty. The whole rating thing is based around the notion that realistic depiction of sex, violence, drugs etc. equals bad for little children

    Ah so Freeman has brought them some HEVs?

    I loved that part of HL... you'd fall off a cliff and when you'd land you would hear the HEV say:

    "Minor Fracture detected, Morphine administered"
    I thought that was a great touch.

    personally i would like to see chunks of flesh bitten, limbs flying off, torso's swiped in half and heads stomped in. but hey thats just me.
    what i dont get is HL has a mature rating (18+) so to play NS u have to buy HL first anyways?

    Pretty much yes, only these are combat HEV's and look cooler. If you compare the Heavy Armor to the HL HEV suit, they actually look rather similar.     Contrary to popular belief, the 'no blood' rule wasn't put in place because of PG considerations, but because blood did just not appear as something that would help the atmosphere of the game.
    Oddly enough, some of us don't need arguments <i>against</i>, but <i>for</i> gory scenes.

    PG rating? What are you people talking about? HALF LIFE is rated M 17+, lol.

    I made a thread about this that got locked real quick. I still think that a death pack, or a blood option or something would be cool. In the config under controls, there is a "parental mode" button, or something like that. Maybe, by checking that, NS will play the way it is now. If its not checked, then maybe some blood and/or gibs might bring a new level of coolness to the game. I want to say "Every single mod has blood and/or guts in it" but I cant say that, cause I dont know it for a fact. However, I <i>can</i> state that the most popular mods, do have a little bit of blood in them. Cstrike, DoD, TFC (0mg th3 g|35!!)...even AHL has SOME blood.

    But hey, thats just my $0.02. I know it wont happen, but i can still voice my opinion without getting flamed right?.......RIGHT? /runs from coil

    The alien blood is necessary to know when you are injuring a cloaked alien. Shoot in a wild circle and see if anything splats...

    Yeah, Germany.

    [opinion]I believe part of why red blood is not part of NS is because focusing primarily on what people consider mature detracts from what NS is really all about. kinda like how the Soldier of Fortune series focuses primarily on how bad you can mutilate someone, NS focuses on the helplessness a single unit feels when he or she hears "OH NOES BASE UNDER ATTAX!".[/opinion]

    Germany has perhaps europe's most aggressive censorship of content for under-aged. It's not forbidden to show blood and violence, but you just cant show it to children. So game companies edit the games to not fall under "adult" category. IT sucks majorly. And there's also more censorship due to their nazism past. Anything nazistic is censored, even war games! No matter your age.

    Halflife carries an M (17+) rating. How many people under 17 do you know who play HL? Yeah, thought so.

    Regardless of HL, NS has, by Flayra's own design, a T rating. There will not be blood in NS at any time in the foreseeable future.

    Topics like this have been done to death, and it's never worth the pages of whining and flaming that always result. Don't hold your breath for blood in this mod.
