<div class="IPBDescription">Not trying to get gore and blood</div> Ok, i'm just trying to figure out why this game is considered to have a PG rating, i *AM NOT* trying to get gore, and i *ALREADY KNOW* that it will never be put into NS...
You have guns like crazy in it
Humans are shoting animals
Animals are tearing humans to pieces
The objective is to kill everybody on the other team
Giant elephant/rhino things are knocking their bones through humans
Humans are using firearms and explosives
most of all: Half Life is a Mature rated game. Anyone who has it should be able to handle anything inside (including nudity, curse words, blood, guns, death, etc.)
so i'm just curious how this is considered a family mod, and has a PG rating (and i'm not trying to mock you guys, please don't take this personally)

btw, i'm going by several dozen posts i've read where it says "Flayra is trying to keep a 'PG' rating"
other thoughts?
HL is sold for ages 17+. How many players do you know being that old?
Thought so.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Why noone wants more fluffybunnies in NS?
Like Immacolata says, there's really no reality in the way that marines die etc.
Is the whole attempt to make NS appropriate for younger gamers irrelevant? Maybe, since few people would buy HL solely for NS, so if they are able to play NS, they must also be able to play HL. But this isn't the point--NS is being kept "clean" because that's what Flayra wants, and it's proof that it's not the gore or the graphics that makes a game. And maybe, if NS ever became a stand-alone game (which is unlikely, considering the age of the HL engine), it would help the sales by greatening the age bracket slightly.
And also...

Nudity in HL? Where? <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
On ANY CS screenshot host you see shots using the sooo famous models.

Yes, but it's a slippery slope. You said "But I want a little blood." And another guy suggests, what about flying limbs? I mean have you seen those fade claws? It would only be natural to see a decapitated body fall and the head roll across the floor. And before we know it, some sociopatic kid will tell us how he hyucks hyucks each time he pulls wings off butteflies, and how it woudlnt' be cool to have that on lerks.
Well.
Ok, that's perhaps riding the conjecture bandwagon a bit too long <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
But in any case, I can only raise my moral index finger at you who insists that there must be blood for "realism". Realism? Oh come on! What the feck is wrong with the current dying and killing in Natural Selection? This isn't Soldier of Fortune AKA "Nhhuh I shot him inna gonads. Nhuh-huh". NS is not merely another drug you instant gratification addicts must take to soothe the video game pang. It's darn fine medication for that as it is, but it is also a very sociable mod compared to many others out there. Death and killing are not the objective in NS, which many ex-CS players needs a little time to readjust to. The objective is to win the war. And blood wont make it funner, nor unfunnier. It's just irrelevant, really!
Is it too hard to comprehend that Flayra just might not want flying decapitated heads? Regardless of what age group the mod is aimed at?
because Flayra wants it that way.
and thats realy as far as it needs to go ...

This is the best reply to most of the 'issues' being made at the moment - its Flay's game, he can do what he likes. Live with it. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
but there are always plugins weeeee!!

thanks, well thought out response. It makes perfect sense now
i've heard that bloody video games are outlawed in parts of europe, since DooM and Columbine, and yet HL is very popular because it is a decent engine and has the "content control" thing for singleplayer, (cs can be downloaded, so it sneaks passed the laws) and flayra is keeping this game clean from the git-go because maybe someday in the future it will go retail like CS did and he'll have the huge new market.
i dont know if thats true, but it is logical, and you dont really need gore to see that onos hit marine = 1 point!
Also hang yourself before complaining about maturity and/or how family friendly a game where you freaking murder each other to death with bullet guns and razor sharp claws is. I hate you.... Die !
Putting a disclaimer of "I'm not trying to get blood and gore" doesn't make this any more of a new topic.
