<div class="IPBDescription">what is it that decides...</div> I was just wondering, what is it that decides if you will have a white or a black skin as a marine ?
Is it a server variable, something hardcoded into the game or is it in the models themselves ?
And one more thing. Since you cant see your own skin, does it change everytime you respawn, or is it determined when you join the server ?
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but i couldnt find anything using the search button <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

You can tell which skin it is by looking at the hands in first person.

not in the modelviewer and not ingame, I even reinstalled NS, how is this possible <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
but i think its cool how the NS team did it so you don't have a team of all marines that look the same, it adds a sense of variety.
j/k
....
But does anyone know what the odds are that you comes out as black or white ?
Interesting.
Im sure you all have white/black player skins in your NS - you just ... dont pay attention very well.
Once your skin color is chosen when the game starts, you remain that same color till a new game ...

If you have a 50% chance of everything, you end up with a not very representative image of the 'average' armed forces (Sorry ladies, but it isn't a 50-50 split, so get over it)
If you don't have it 50%, you get a lynchmob within 20 minutes.
[FACT] I had to explain to some people in Manchester the other week, that holding an anti-discrimination rally for Women was discrimination in itself. I don't think they got it.
