Who Wins More

I was just wondering. On tourny mode matches what team tends to win more. aliens or rines. Cause i think that shoul be looked at before suggestion balanceing adeas. Some say aliens to weak. Some say rines too weak. Its usually the player just is no good at one team. But one team may acually be stronger and who is that? Does anyone know anything like maybee server stats that keeps such a score?

    Its much much much more deeper and complicated than just looking at who wins more often. Currently there are a handful of things you can do to win in NS that don't require a whole of effort. Jetpacks are too easily obtained for starters. Flayra has said before that there wasn't enough time to test the items higher up in the tech tree like the jetpacks, and thats why things are the way they are today.

    aliens have the advantage on CAL matches, since the mines are practially useless, scuz they do splash damage to the structures and everyone around them

Since rines ownzor the early game they can hold 1-++ more rsr nodes at least, this combined with the already quick tech rate for marines compared to aliens gives them a middle game advantage since they can go any tech route and end it before the 2nd hive is up. The only reliable alien victory is a lerk rush/ 2 hive win. Other more sparadic ways of winning are lucky skulk rush's and failed marine recycle rush's. Conclusion: Marines have an advantage if they know what they are doing and have equal skill. Aliens can win with a vassive skill advantage or against a poor marine team ie: (two bad teams with no strats = aliens have better chance of winning).

    You think thats a good thing? Teams should be balanced, not in favor of one team or another.

    Anyhow, the Voogru servers have their own metamods in place and a few weeks ago I believe the statistic was 77 alien wins to 74 marine wins in the same week.

    Voogru is a non-standard server. Thereby, to my line of reasoning, it does not qualify as Natural Selection.. but NS: Voogru Edition. A large number of the plugins there, running on *any* server will cause me to immediately disconnect and permanently delete the server from my connect list.


    As it stands for the time being, experienced teams with equal skill will normally see a Marine victory. They know what they're doing, and they do it together. Unless the aliens are FAR more skilled, they'll usually go down.
    Pub games, servers filled with unskilled players on both sides, Aliens have a marked advantage and will usually win (the source of the 'Aliens are too overpowered!' threads).

    So generally.. if you're playing the game 'right', Marines have the better half of the 'balance' as it stands now. Hopefully this will be fixed in v1.1, whenever it arrives.

    Any large server is non-standard, which voogru is both in mod amount and server size. The resource model is so messed up at the 20 player mark that it is impossible to lose as marine if you have any half-decent comm. I'm surprised that marines don't win 100% of the time on these servers. Even with skilless marines, you can still be able to beef them up to make up for their lack of aim.

    Marines. They are given control of the match at the start, and if a clan is any good they will keep it way.


    A sure fire way you know you are going to lose in any RTS:

    You have to react, not act.

    And right from the start, aliens must react.

    i'd say, the less players there is, the greater the chance aliens have of winning
    if there is over 9 marines on a team, the marines get so much res its not funny
    most even match up is probly 7 or 8 players per team

    Server stats have generally shown that aliens win 75% of pubs, while the ratio is reversed in clan matches. Note: that statistic is rather old; 2 months or more, I think.

    Marines win about ~75% of the time on the servers I play on. Even more on the big Egobooster server (/26 players). Win percentages also depend quite heavily on the map. I'd estimate aliens loose about 90% of the time on nothing(except when they start in cargo in which case they have might have a chance)/tanith.

    only time i really see marines win is if they have a really good comm and the marines pretty good them selfs or the aliens are just really crap. normaly its ppl who dont have a clue that repeatedly go gorge. This multiple gorge thing for 1.1 should sort that.

    yeah last i saw it was around 80% for aliens in pubs and for rines it was exactly the opposite if not closer to 90%. That estimate is roughly a month old, but from my experiences in pub and league play it hasn't changed.

    Aliens always win in pubs. Wanna know why? They arent dependent on each other. If they have 3 noobies people on their team they dont get hurt that much. Marines depend on one another. If they have 3 noobies they are going to be hurting very badly. In a clan match where people are of equal skill on both teams, a marine team will absolutely destroy an alien team. Wanna know why? cuz skulks < jetpack + hmg. The jetpack hmg rush is very simple. Get 2 res towers and just tech up to jets + hmg. Get 2 of them and give them to 2 people capable of killing a hive. Game over. In a clan match there is almost nothing aliens can do to prevent this. Its very frustrating but it will be fixed in 1.1 because you will have higher costing jetpacks and lerks should be more powerful.

    well, i think the aliens win more. but on tanith maps, the marines tend to have the upper hand.
