<div class="IPBDescription">preliminary screens</div> These are some screenshots of my map, ns_disaster.     i can't reduce its bytes for some reason, resizing it in paint reduced bytes by only a few hundred:(

    edit: wait it did reduce bytes, but its still a bit above, i might crop some off, one sec

    Here's a quick and dirty fix : save as a jpeg! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Screenshots are saved as bmp files, which are huge anyways. MSPaint can open the bmp and save it as a jpg.

    Anyone would be an idiot by doing what? Opening a HL screenshot in MSPaint, then saving it as a jpg? I've done it that way dozens of times already - while it's not a 100% perfect transfer, it's more than adequate enough to be considered quite good.

    Erendor, try a freware program called Irfanview. It has everything you need and more including a resizing ability. Did I mention that it's FREE!?

    messytreat thankyou for the irfan thing, which i am downlaoding now and thankyou sychnophant for the jpeg trick. I'm posting only one at the moment, of part of the marine spawn, then i have to go back to my shelves. its not much, but i like it(the pic)

    These forums clear the attach file field if you preview your post, so that might be the cause. Also make sure that it's within the size limit.

    its within the size limit, but whenever i save my pics as jpeg, it turns into gif? and this forum dosen't let me post gif :| EDIT: YIPEEE!! it worked! this is teh black hole waste mangagement, its pretty small, but it would take effort to resize, i've got 3 more, so stay hetre!

    Well, i'm a 2 and a 3. I've been mapping for a bit on another mod, which was an outdoor one, and the rooms are like plans. The reason i want feedpack is so i can make plans into finished products which everyone likes. I'm going to post some more pics later on, where i have revamped the CC area a bit, and another one of the rooms.

    try making it all a bit less boxy.

    The doors are just squares carved out of the wall and it shows.
    Revamping that cc area is ok but still i dont see any really intresting achitecture.

    its still all mostly a plan. The cc area i know i'm going to put in some large generator type things hanging fromt he ceiling, and the boxiness of that door willbe removed, its jsut how i do things. if i make a room, it starts out as a box till i get a feel for what its going to be.

    this map seem to not have any detail at all... "developer 1" and "r_speeds 1" in displays polygon count... look at the "wpoly" numbers... I guess it isnt even over 50... increase detail levels, but stay under 800 in wpolys, or the map can lag on slow computers...
