While it's for a good cause, this has nothing to do with NS and is due for the Off Topic boards...

What a disappointment. I was hoping for a macromedia flash type thingy with a realistic physics model for fabric.

The site makes me wonder 2 things:
    1) Is that background the same clouds one used for the Microsoft Windows 95 logo and startup, and is it legal to use in this manner?
    2) Should I be expecting chain letters saying "wave a flag and pass this e-mail on to 10 people"? I tend not to like spam or chain letters, regardless of the message...

completely unrelated, but there is a family near here whom I keep seeing go out to this bridge over the highway and just stand there all day waving an american flag at the drivers...

    burning flags is wrong

waving flags at passing cars on a bridge is foolish. I'd even say idiotic, but you can't blame idiots for being idiots.

flags = symbol. Burning a flag = burning what it is representing.

please don't comment on how stupid I sound because everyone knows that a flag represents its nation and nobody cibilized would burn the n1 symbol of a nation.

A flag is stitched cloth. That's why all the flags in America haven't spontaneously set themselves on fire, with Dubya's non-Senate-approved war... the President, our figurehead and 'leader', falling back on fear tactics (if you don't support the war, you're unamerican! If you don't agree with the idiotic drivel spouting from my mouth like some kind of sebhorric corn, you're supporting the terrorists!). Others have relied on the same.. but they're all referred to as despots or dictators. Hitler, for example.

Wrong, omae. If I burn a flag, I'm burning the symbol that a COMPLETE FRICKING MORON has taken as his own, and used to steer a nation down a path nobody but his Daddy wanted. (Well, Daddy didn't get him while he was in office, so I'm gonna, dagnabbit!) He's ignored the decisions of the rest of the freaking PLANET, and is going to go off and do his own thing, whether or NOT his people want it to happen.

So until we get someone with more brain cells than tapioca pudding and pretzels in office, as far as I'm concerned the Red, White and Blue is no more than a hidden Yellow, Orange and Black.

Strange...back when I was in the boy scouts, I was always taught that if you let the American flag touch the ground, there was a whole official ceremony with a certain order of steps and procedures that had to be done to respectfully destroy it by burning.

Either my memory is out of whack, or that process is outdated.

So hes a Nazi yet hes a moron? He can some how take control of America as a dictator yet is a moron? I think the Iraq people and Kurds like that we went to war.

Burning a Flag is the pornography of protesting. Instead of actually making sense and getting a point accross you just burn a flag. "lol no blood for oil, hehehehe!"

No more than waving a flag is the 'pornography' of patriotism.
I'd be more for hanging the flag upside down, myself (an old signal that an outpost was in severe trouble) but that's already been taken to by those who still feel that the US should be a confederation, rather than a union.

It's a clear message that you don't agree with the BS that is happening in YOUR country, that anyone can look at and understand.. rather than coming up to you and 'letting you know' that the flag is on upside down, and that you should fix it.

Amazing that the Senate had not yet made that vote before US troops started mobilizing for war. Dubya started on the war kick, and has used the 'un-american to disagree with the President' schtick to push his decisions through.

It's funny... when I drive around, for every pro-war bumper sticker I see, there are at least five on surrounding cars bearing slogans like 'Drop Bush, Not Bombs' or 'Support Our Troops... Bring Them Home!'

You don't have to be a Nazi to be a dictator. However, it's a fact that most current US gun laws are directly based on Third Reich gun control laws. Most likely because they were effective. The problem I have is when our 'free' government starts utilizing fear tactics to SCARE the populace. To intimidate with the 'un-patriotic' title, if they go against the governmental mandate. To make people xenophobic, paranoid, and easily-controlled through cr*p like Fox News.
Hell, I'm pretty relaxed in my views. Live and let live. But I have a STRONG code of honour, which will not tolerate deception, lies (NOT disinformation, LIES), or manipulation. I refuse to fall into the nice, cushiony mass of fear and mistrust. I remember that we freaking PUT people like the Taliban, as well as Saddam Hussein into power. That Bush's family has joint investments with Osama bin Laden. I study history, and I don't let the stuff slide through the cracks, as hard as the press center may try to make me look at the big 'splody bombs off on the idiot box.

    Ever read any Orwell?

look a flag is a symbol of a nation. Now what you do with it is just to the person with the flag's decision. If he waves a flag for supporting a war, that's stupid. If he steals the American flag for "the cause" of Iraq, than thats, I'd say, misuse.

A flag is a symbol of a nation, not of a war

If you're not waving a flag it doesn't mean you're against Americans.

I don't carry a flag everywhere I go, saying death to Americans (I'm french but not antiamerican) and ****. Being a patriot and an idiot are different things.

People waving flags, dumping wine and renaming fries for America's sake are a nice example of idiots.

You can have a flag without being an idiot can you?

I point upwards and wave the flag of "Off-Topic".

This is not the discussion forum, and for good reason... if you wish to enter the realm of protesting the US's war on terrorism, at least go to the discussions forum with the big dogs. No hiding in the kitchen.
