Ok. Back when I first got NS I had the problem of the Hints not staying off. A friend of mine showed me where to edit the config file to turn them off and that worked. After an os reinstall I had the same problem but this time editing the config file does nothing. Does anyone know how to fix this as it is getting really annoying.
Second is I have played on servers where there are red targeting lasers for the light machineguns. I was wondering where the option is to turn this on because I like to host small games for my friends and I. Or is this an addon and if it is where can I get it?

Second thing. There is not an option to turn on red targeting lasers. I think that is a pluggin but I don't know exactly. Try to search at <a href='http://www.google.com' target='_blank'>google</a> to find more information about this.

You might want to create a backup of your config, for if you have to reinstall or reformat or whatever. Config files have the extension .cfg and contain seriesises of console commands. If you haven't created any new .cfgs, all your stuff should be in a file called "config.cfg".
I strongly suggest that you create a file called "ns.cfg" and copy the contents of config.cfg to it. This is because any changes you make in-game through the console will alter your config.cfg. So if you happen to fiddle with the console in-game and screw things up (or if you're on one of those servers where the admin can run console commands on your machine and they bind all your keys to "kill" or something) you have a copy you can recover everything from. Also, aliases you put in the config.cfg don't get retained (afaik). If that last sentence doesn't mean anything to you, don't worry about it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->.
Although that will be hard for everyone who dosen't show dos extensions
And acctually not EVERY command saves in your config.cfg

Blech horrible plugins (basicaly eat me targets stuck on the marines for the aliens)
