<div class="IPBDescription">Pub Games</div> Why is it that almost pub game I play... the marines feel that they need to lock down 2 hives to win? I mean come on people... Why drag a game out for 2 hours? If anybody reads this.. encourage the commanders in games not to go for a 2 hive lock but maybe a JP HMG rush.. just something not to make a game last 2 hours.. Even with a server with 20 people in it.. a JP HMG run is very possible.. HA JMP maybe a lil harder but still viable.. thank you.. The best games i have played are the longest ones. Not those 5 min lame booring tech rush games.
I have experienced way too many early game jp/hmg rushes. Everyone sits in the base and waits until the com drops jetpacks and then we rush together in hive.
Skulks are trying to kill us but it is almost impossible....hive down......GG.....booooring.....*console*........*quit*
Anyways, there are some that would argue to stop the JP/HMG rushes because they end the game too quickly and are boring. I just randomly choose one each game.
Plus, 2 hive lockdowns CAN still be quick. ?Just takes decent marines. It cna end in like 45 minutes.
But long games where it is 2 hives vs, full upgrade hmg ha, those are the best of ns. Just gotta love those, 4 hmg 1 gl, vs 4 fade 1 lerk fights. Although the ha usually win.

That is the best, rines relocated, and everything seems to be a stalemate. I joined voogru once in that condition, and a very charismatic and intelligent alien leader was saying: "It's a stalemate, neither side can win", so I said maybe I could break it. Well, the advantage was to the Fades, we where essentially sieging (like locked them in) Subspace hive. But the comm, ignoring the rules of the server to make the game go on forever, had turret farms galore, and was health spamming at a rediculus rate.
We hoped to starve them out of resouces, but they where replacing their few causulties with HA as fast as we dropped them. So the before mentioned leader Fade got us all to fall back, and as the humans started to move out, the fighting began again, with new intensity, and after some extremely tough battling we fought them back again, almost losing Port in the proccess, and with momentum on our side we killed them in another 15 minutes.
And I am a crappy fade. Had I joined the marines I'm sure I would have broken the stalemate for them (instead of making little difference for the aliens).
Can I watch you're first game as marines in v1.1 when JP/HMG rush is not the uber-tactic anymore, and you are left whining how badly the marines got nerfed?

Are you aware you can jp hmg rush off one resource node i.e. marine start....
All marines do is defend a single res node (maybe another if they want more jp hmg set), and they can win easily, every time, unless aliens wipe out base.
Surely youd want marines to do something a little more challenging? Against good aliens, two hive lock downs are more challenging and way less boring than jp hmg rushes.
I play on a pretty high skill server and believe me jp hmg rushes are killing it - makes the game real boring.
I think his intention with this post was to let pubbers know that there are other means and strategies by which one can play as marines. You don't "always" have to lock up two hives to win a round. He is correct saying that 2 hive lockdowns take WAY too long. And yes, others are correct when they say that JP/HMG rushes are too fast and end the game too quickly. But, this game was made by Flayra to be very diverse. Those are not your only two options. The marine tech tree allows for many possibilities currently. You could go with motion tracking right out of the box and just charge the hive as a group. You can reloacte to another spot on the map (especially on maps where there are double resource node rooms) The possibilities are not, by any means, endless, but they are varied and many.
I just think you took his post out of context. You should calm yourself before you respond with posts that are chock full o' flames.
Also, Screamer has never threatened to change the map immediatly. On our server, when both hives each have a literal "farm" of turrets and seiges, we simply say you have x amount of time to get in here and kill us off. Considering that, at that point, you have every resource on the map, that is not a difficult thing to do.

At least with a two hive lock down i hav a chance as alien.
I've joined my fair share of 'hopeless' alien teams, only to Lerk-spike a TF/PG down, or find a weakness in a TFarm to Bitegun to death, because eveyone that's been in the game for too long has forgotten or given up on a location.

But I think the poster is referring to when the Marines then just sit and get every last tech upgrade and Aliens are stuck with one hive and its boring as hell :-\
