Planetside Beta
<div class="IPBDescription">This is freakin' awesome</div> So who's in the beta? I know I am. I have an ongoing love/hate relationship with the beta. I love it because it's cool, but I hate it because it's a beta, it's buggy, and servers are up and down haphazardly for patching/maintenance.
But it's still awesome.

And really, whats the goal of the game? No side ever wins really does it? Soo...its pretty much team deathmatch forever? You see, least in NS, the game has a purpose, to destroy the other team. You can join and leave a game whenever you want with little or no pressure, in MMORPGs that are big, you have to find a place to log at, hope you don't get killed when you log back on. You might be out in the middle of nowhere at 5am, log, and spend the next 3 hours the tomarrow trying to get back to civilization!
I dunno, MMORPGs always seem kinda pointless because they have no real end goal. You just keep playing, paying, a never ending war over....outposts? Yay.
I payed $40 bucks for HL when it came out, I've been playing it for almost 5 years now. I played Dark Age of Camelot for exactly 1 year and hated it for aprox 6 months of that time, thats $120 bucks down the drain. I did the math, for 5 years of enjoyment I got out of HL (and continuing) I had to pay about 1 dollar a month.
I dunno, MMORPGs are for some people, but for me, I like a game I can play when I want to and quit when I want to. With HL I can leave it, go walk the dog, so what if I die. In a MMORPG you die and its a huge ordeal.
Not in Planetside.

Patient... be glad that Sony granted you as a beta-tester.
I haven?t even got an e-mail yet.
All body hits count for the same, no damage areas.. I beleive it's 2 hits for agile(light) armor.
And it would be extremly unbalancing if 1 shot killed, theres been huge controversy over this since the game was announced to have sniper rifles in it.

Naaa, WWII Online is much bigger but the graphics really sucks, nothing compared to PlanetSide.
But WWII Online was pretty fun when I played it the first time, but PlanetSide will own all MMOFPS.
Second, there's a vehicle which allows you to respawn at its location if you store your 'pattern' on it. It also allows you to requipt yourself right there and then. You'd be back into the thick of things in no time whatsoever <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
What frustraights me tho is having to reload while inside a aircraft, bugs me to no end. And it shouldnt take 20 rockets to kill a medium infantry... TenSix: This isn't an MMORPG. This is MMOFPS. Dying isn't a big deal at all unless you have that crucial truck of ANT loaded in the cargo bay of a Galaxy while it gets shot down.
WW2OL rocks except there is too much time taken to get there and you die too quickly, so then you have to go back there. It's a patient man's game.
it was called 10six (since 10 to the sixth power was a million)
but due to high price to play it plus it got repetitive it soon died out. Lack of advertiseing and so forth. Could of been a great game tho

I signed up for like 4 months ago, still no e-mail.
I dont really like the game, it plays and feels identical to tribes 2 except you need exp to buy the better stuff and without the jetpack. The actual combat is pretty shallow, more often than not you dont have the best suited weapon against any opponenet or you come accross someone with far better weapon kit than you. Either way the combat is poor, with it always being large open ground theres no movement or evasion aspects in the game, just a case of see someone and shoot.
The control for air vehicles is a joke, probably the worse flying physics ive ever seen in a game.
On the plus side the teamplay is well structured, makes for some good battles and well deserved captures.
Basicly if you like Tribes 2 youll probably like Planetside, if you didnt like Tribes 2 you defintely wont like Planetside.
Cant be worse than Tribes2's aircrafts. I saw a video on a guy playing PS, and he controlled the aircrafts really well. To mention too, he was a newb.
