A Different Kind Of Hive Defense

It was a small game of 4 players so we decided to try something a bit different. The first 10 minutes or so were just spent fooling around while saving for res, after which we decided to try a rather more radical approach to hive defense.
(sorry for the lack of good pictures, apparently I didn't take the ones I remembered taking after all )

The hive, as most of you will no doubt recognize, is CC on eclipse. Fittingly, all of the access routes to CC are now being blocked by...CCs!

The route closest to Eclipse proved to be a bit of a challenge when the CCs just wouldn't stack, but in the end we finally managed to plug the holes.
Naturally, no normal base layout would do for such a grand plan. Instead, we decided to opt for the amazing "inviso IP" from Acme corporation

Alas, in the end the aliens still managed to crawl in by the repeated use of acid rockets to kill the marines welding the buildings behind (didn't have HA due to the rather low amount of res available from one res tower )
This was quite a fun game for me atleast, not that I'd recommend trying to do anything like this in a real game both due to the other side maybe getting rather annoyed at it, and due to the rather large amount of resources it requires. Though I did contemplate walling the aliens INSIDE their own hive on another test run some day. Too bad it seems that this fun little stacking feature is being removed from the marines in 1.1

CC stacking on that level=evil
but funny nonetheless
Pfff, it's not like this would be an effective defense unless you can wall in multiple res nodes and or 2 hives
now siege stacking is a while nother story... did you know 21 sieges really does kill a hove in one shot!
The marines had tons of resources but they couldn't take us down. ns_tainth. we were at fusion. The marines put 2 comm chairs blocking the vent to the right of Fusion and cargo, (if your facing toward reactor room from cargo). Behind those 2 command chairs they put 2 sieges. They destoryed our hive just as Sattcomm was going up. holy **** it was lame but it worked. that really **** me off, but it worked.
