Hive Hp

How many HP
Soo exactly how many hit points do all of these Alien structures have? Or how much damage does each Marine weapon do? Please answer or send me a link or something. Thanks. Slightly embarrasing to be an experienced player and not know this... but how else do I learn right??

Thanks to the lovely show health and armor plug-ins, I can tell you with some confidence it has 6000 hp.

Can't be much of an experienced player if ypu've never read the damn manual: http://www.ns-central.co.uk/Manual/weapons_main.html

Though of course, that's 1.0 data - check changelogs for how things have changed, like GL damage.

    He's correct.

As taken from skill.txt in Half-Life\ns.

No, Souris, I never read the "damn manual" I found it much more entertaining to learn hands on rather than read a book about it...

(notes to himself that a lot of the newbie abuse could be avoided if people read the manual before playing, so they didn't wander around asking dumb questions like "how do I become a different alien?" "how do I get better guns?" or "how much damage does my gun do?")

I pity the fool who hasn't read the manual. Geez... it's extremely entertaining, with the explanations and such.

I would agree to that. I however was lucky enough to learn in a LAN with a bunch of experienced friends.

I never read the manual becuase any length of reading hurts due to my poor eyesight ;p

However, this still does not answer the question of how many hitpoints the different alien structures have, other than the hive. Also, for marines structures, how many hitpoints do the different buildings, turrets, etc, have?

Mind you the manual and in game help contradict each other.

In game it says the seige is a sonic weapon.

In the manual it says it's a gravitational one.

(I go with the sonic weapon idea, thats why it goes "whoom")

It's gravitational. Why else would that whoom sound emanate from the siege? It must be the fierce gravity creating a sonic boom, because face it, any Year 10 physics student can tell you there is just about jack energy in sound. Theres a bit, but not much, nowhere near enough to pulverize a cup let alone a hive. Therefore, Gravity is our friend (or enemy if your alien) in this case.

On topic, I'm not sure but I have heard that an OC has about 1300 hitpoints or so...

I do Biology. So I could tell you (Theoretically) How the aliens work!

    Hmm... wrong.

Gravity is a weak, weak force (in fact, physicists call it "weak force"). It takes an object the size of the Earth to create enough force to hold us on to it, for example. A pretty basic demonstration of sound energy, by contrast, would be a powerful loudspeaker - we've all felt the vibrations from turning the bass and volume up on our home stereos no doubt, so it's easy to imagine that some device designed to create vibrations this way would be more powerful than a home stereo, and considerably smaller than a planet.

The does, indeed have 6000 hitpoints, and heals them back at 2 hp per second. Defense chambers have about 720 life, movement chambers have about the same, while offense, resource and sensory towers have a fair bit more.

True about gravity being weak, but then again, there are pulsars the size of the earth with a crazy density that makes it as massive as our sun is.

I think that since they have invented artificial gravity in the game, it wouldnt be too hard to create a highly localized gravity based weapon (siege). Sound is too clean and picky, you need the right frequency and power level. With a gravity based weapon, just get up enough mass/power or whatever then lob it off in the right direction. Bingo, instant blast...

All I was trying to say is that Gravity would be more efficient and appropriate then a sonic weapon would be...
