check it out :)
ok, it's nothing fancy here, i just made a new animation for marine's weapons look pose.
most of the SC marines hold their guns with only one hand when they are not firing, thanks to their power armor, as we can see in the cinematics and wallpaper.
i think that gun idle pose is kind of cool. so i made that and replace the default marine "weapons look" animation. The in game result is actaully pretty cool, since they will use this pose when they are not firing, and snap to fire animation when they pull the trigger, so the marines seem more alive in game. In default animation, the firing and idle ( ie look ) animation is basically the same pose, which make the model a wooden feel.
what i have here is just two animation smd files.
here is complete step on how to replace the animation pose u want. U can use this pose to replace any weapon idle pose. ( except knife, welder and mines )
Step 1. decompile the marine model
Step 2, Decide if u want to replace a crouch pose or standing pose.
if u want to replace a crouch pose, look for the smd files that begins with "crouch"
like this file name: crouch_hmg_fire_blend1.smd
if u want to pose a standing pose, just look for smd files that don't start with " crouch"
Step 3. next look for the file that is for the specific weapon u want to replace.
for example, if u want to replace a crouch heavy machine gun pose, just look for the file
crouch_hmg_look_blend1.smd, make sure the file name contains the word " look", DO NOT use the file that contains name " fire".
Step 4, after u find ur file to replace, use the downlaoded blend1 file to replace the default's blend1, and blend 2 for default's blend2 .
Step 5, recompile the marine model and u are good to go.

Nice work.

yeah, it's actually jamil's guass rifle p model without skin.
Smoothing groups are being a pain in milkshape. I'll have to find other ways of compiling from 3ds.
Can't wait for this stuff.
Oh Cpt.Terran, check the Modeling 101 sticky post, there's a link to a decompiler that doesn't need milkshape (I used it to compile my SC marine).
No.
Go read the stickied "Modeling 101" Delta|Cpt.Terran - there's a bit in the main post about how to decompile and recompile models, and the tools you need are attached to the post. I also included a link to my tutorial on ripping animations from one model and using them on another. No need for any 3D editing at all.
Its editing a 3d model, so thats still 3D editing...sorta .

Wha...what the? Damn you Monse, you stuck a chip in my brain. You maniac! Damn you all to heeelll!
This particular SMD file is an animation file. You can't stick it anywhere unless you're looking to compile the model, which I hardly think you plan on doing. Look for MDL files, they're the compiled models you can use in game.
LOL!!!!! omg thats great! f*ck me i think i **** myself.
*puts on leather pants and struts like a nazi*
I like that pose.....
