    To little info mate, give us:

    Sys Specs (sound card specialy, but everyting is good)
    How it sounds 'terrible'

    and as you work on that make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card and what not <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    There is nothing wrong with my soundcard... It works perfectly on all those other games, but not on natural-selection...
    The sound is jarring, very irritating..... If i want to get the sound perfect, I may : reconnect a couple of times or custom games-internet games-done-done-configuration-audio-done-done-custom games-internet games-done-done.... and so on, until the sound is perfectly....
    Thanx if someone helps me!-.. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    More specs would help.

    But I suspect that your comp is having a hard time keeping up. I had a some sound issues before I upgraded to a faster processor. Choppy sound, massiv lag during choppy sound and so forth.

    Since soundcards run through the PCI bus and have a low priority, sound is the first thing (well almost anyways) that suffers when your processor is under pressure. You could try to give the soundcard a higher priority but there is a big chance that other devices will suffer instead.

    Also, try allocating more memory to Halflife by adding -heapsize xxxxx (xxxxx is amount of memory you wish to allocate ex: 48000) in the command line in your NS shortcut. It might help some but it´s not a perfect fix. Be careful not to allocate to much memory because your OS might crash.

    Thanatos.

    look, we are trying to help you

    do not lash at us or we will not want to help you.

    now, you say ALL other gqames work, does that include other HL mods?
    Did you listen when asked if you updated the drivers?
    what OS are you running?

    have you tried reinstalling NS?(If it is the only mod that borks) or HL(if all mods bork)

    etc.

    you have to give us some help or else we cant do anything, this is not a common problem that we simply know the solution to, so don't rip at us please.

    @arvixx:
    play with these values:

    MP3Volume "0.800000" (general sound I think)
    bgmvolume "1.000000" (weapons and stuff I think)
    hisound "1.000000" (probably a simple toggle though not sure, ie 1 or 0)
    suitvolume "0.250000" (probably not used for NS)
    volume "0.800000" (over all volume)

    Is -heapsize 48000 much allocated memory, or little?

    Yea, I guess I'm having the same problem...

    Soundcard VIA onboard soundcard.
    Processor Athlon XP 2100+
    Video Card Radeon 9000 Pro
    OS: Mandrake Linux 10 with cedega 4.0 (To run windows games.)

    Every other mod works fine except NS. The sound comes and goes except for the ambiant music...

    :edit: N/m I found out it was a priority thing. I changed the priority of wineserver from 0 to 15 and It's perfect now.
