Sulk Rush

why are people anoyed at hmg rushes.....i played so many matches where the sulks just slaugher the marines in the first min...the next round same thing again...this happened many times. well now the marines have found a tatic that will kill alines fast...deal with it! your just getting a taste of your own fast paced attacking

    Well i haven't seen a succesfull skulk rush in few first min at the long time.
    It is pretty easy to stop. Of course all depends on map. Skulk rush might work in hera, but in eclipse and nancy, those rushes are <b>very</b> easy to stop.

    If there are 2-3 marines in base with pretty good aim, they will kill 5-6 uncarapaced skulk.
    And if the rush fails then marines can go to hunt your gorge, capture res nodes, lock hives, tech up, etc...while other aliens are waiting for a respawn.

    And after the armory is builded (it usually takes less than a minute), com drops couple mine packs and then someone places them around the buildings on the floor.     Agreed. A skulk rush <b>can</b> work, but against decent & upwards marines, your odds are slim.

    I'd like to consider myself okay, (I know peeps worse, I know peeps better imo) and I know in the initial skulk rush I can drop 3 without reloading.

    Yes, the "sulk" rush in pubs isn't very effective any more. Especially without carapace, people tend to get wasted by Marines early in the game. Early in the game you hafta be sneaky to get kills, and a whole rushing team isn't exactly sneaky.

    Marines have long range weapons at start. Skulks do not. If the skulks own the marines in the first rush, the marines suck. End of story, you could've taken out the marines with one hive and they had HA/HMG if you can wipe them in the first rush.

    What servers do yall play on? Skulks rushes SHOULDNT work however on public games often they do.....

    when i comm in the singapore server pagn.net

    Its usually basic 1 or 2 guards rest go hunt rts and guard them

    then its tech up to lvl 3 stuff,motion trackers,ha hmg

    usually in caged 1 or 2 guards are SUPPOSEDLY enough but mines play a vital role too.......

    Mine the entrances to caged.....

    at least for 10 mins skulks can't get in by then already lvl 2 weapons no big deal...

    first part just all sit and wait while one builds rest cover from secure postions further away from the entrances

    Hate to tell you, but any marine team that loses before the skulks get carapace (or at least something) is doing something horribly wrong. Usually the problem is one or a combination of these: The base is virtually/undefended because most of the marines rambo-ed off, the only marines guarding the base are busy building or humping the armory when the skulks rush in or even just screwing around, or the marines are standing somewhere really dumb (blind corners, etc.). Don't do those things, and you won't lose to a rush.

    Carapace makes for a completely different game if you don't upgrade your weapons/armor. Then you have a reason to lose, if the other team is more organized than you are.

    A skulk rush killing a marine base right now? HARHARHARHAHRHAR. If that was posted one and a half month ago I would believe it. But right now... I haven't seen that happen in ages. Simply because the marines are prepared and the unupped skulks are a BIG joke.

    I find a gorge rush like 5 min in the game much more effective, that way you have one gorge and the rest lerks and skulks, and the gorge can spit the mines, and they run in and rape the marine base

    Often times people forget they are called "SKULKS" not "OMG H4X attack them soon as they spawn !!!!!" They are supposed to be covert and reclusive not outright and rushing. Please make note those of you who aren't aware of this, including the thread starter.

    I would have said the same thing except that this weekend we encounter a weird situation on the redphive server where the server was half regulars and half players we didn't know. For multiple reasons it ended up the regulars all went Kharaa and the other guys went Marines. We played 5 rounds on eclipse. First 3 were over in a minute or two with skulk rushes. The fourth they placed mines and took Eclipse and Triad. Five skulks and two gorges took Eclipse and Triad back and then one of the gorges decided we were rushing their main to slow them down. The rush was very succesful and we actually were able to end it there (game was about 15 minutes old). Last match was an hour or so long.

    It was weird though because for the most part the marine team was pretty good. I know on at least two of the fast rushes they had a bad comm, and on the fourth game where we did a rush 15 minutes in we got really lucky and caught them off guard. But that last game that lasted for an hour they beat the crap out of us and the teams were almost the exact same as the first four games. The marine team seemed to have players who could aim and knew how to play the game, but having an organized group of aliens that had played together before seemed to allow us to rush effectively.

    For some strange reason whenever I try to organize "sulk" rushes, it never quite turns out right. Everbody just shuffles around, pouting and then eventually wanders off to their bedroom to cuddle with their pillow and listen to The Cure.

    Take a look-see at my sig. I've not had a skulk rush take out a Marine team on these two servers for as long as I can think back to playing on them. It's all about the people you play with, man...
