I checked the pldecal.wad, but it was blank, anyone else have that?
Cute idea with the upgrades and all, but I just beat one map every single time using fast legs and achilles heal (and kevlar hehe). I ran to objective, picked it up, ran back. I had 163 hp, and like 120 armor.. They could hit me, and when they did, it didn't really hurt.
fanboy gets a new meaning. the game's great. needs some fixes, but it's great. the first release of ns was laggier than hell, how could something like that be overlooked?
I played it for about an hour or so. It was a fun diversion (I *really* like the atmosphere, texturing, and architecture of the levels, but was less interested in their very basic simplicity of layout). The models were above-par I thought (although the security forces player's seemed somewhat svelte!). The game sounds and music were also really well done. The voiceovers could have been mixed a tad better, but not everyone has access to that kind of equipment - look at CS' continual use of radio voices that sound like a husky 14 year-old, for example. The menuing and HUD design were also pretty cool as well - I like the loadouts and tabbed structure method very much.
But the gameplay and weaponry attributes were the areas I thought needed more attention. Partly due to the maps making the gameplay a bit oversimplified, but mainly because the scenarios didn't seem that compelling to me. The reason a capture the flag/capture and hold scenario works in games like TFC is because it's not round-based. For the same reason that bomb-defusing/laying never happens in CS, PE 'hacking' missions end up being frag fests, becuase people find it easier to simply kill the other team that actually perform missions. When you add in the fact that most of the weapons in the game felt and operated in a very similar matter (I couldn't find any reason not to use the cheapest pistol and own with it basically as a sniper weapon, for example), and the gameplay gets pretty CSee. It's a fairly common mistake that many mods seem to make, which is to inundate the player with a large supply of very similar weapons...
I still think this mod is super cool, and the cyberpunk feel pwns me, as does the cool 'cyber addons'. I just want fewer weapons, and more reason to separate them out and choose them. I bet their next beta does a lot to make this a truly memorable mod, and all the best to them.
The maps are pretty, and the concept is good (cyberware upgrades in a CS-ish game) but some implementation is poor. All the weapons are dead accurate, the machine guns fire slower than the pistols, and some of the maps have glitches (there's this one ladder I try to run over the top of and fall down the other side as a short cut. 50% of the time it works, the rest of the time the ladder grabs me and won't let me go. ever) and the engine has a few glitches (why does changing my pistol halve or double my armour and/or health?). Have a look (you can easily delete it if you don't like it).
no, seriously. The game has a fixed rate of fire (you can hold the fire key/button and have it fire at maximum rate) and the m16 fires at 1 shot per second, but the glock empties the entire clip in one burst. This is A Bad Thing.
yeah, I have noticed this, pistol unloads really fast, neat way how to fire the akimbo though (neat, but annoying since Im only used to holding down one mouse button at a time!)
I've just got to bump this up again for the latest opinions on it.
I'm still convinced that this mod has lots of potential. The bionic upgrades (Deus Ex style) taht you can purchase have plenty of promise, although the weapons still require abit of tweaking maybe, but that comes with time (at the moment the shotgun weapons seems to pwn everything, you can almost snipe with them!). The weapons probably need to have their range and accuracy sorted out.
The maps are the best part of the mod, the beauty of the maps is that they span vertically aswell as horizontally, which makes for more interesting gameplay. Alot of use of elevators and tall ladders. Although it makes the r_speeds suck, most people with a fast enough computer shouldn't notice it.
I agree with Monsieur, the voice commands are quite badly done, almost comical at times, when I played people kept spamming the voice commands just because they are so funny!
This game needs alot of support to make it something good.

Not worth downloading. It's cute, though.

what ..?
Nothing at all!
I don't mind it so much!
It's beta 1 so it really can only get better!

So fanboy DIDN'T used to mean this?
Whoa. Why doesn't anyone tell me these things?

Oh and I got accused of using a speed hack when using the achillies heel.

Remember, it's only beta 1.
NS Anyone?
