A non-standard map with unique features
When I posted ns_cretinous 1.0 a few days ago, I mentioned another version would arrive shortly. This is it.
As in the first version, the marine base is at the bottom of a long winding shaft (filled with ledges, bridges and other structures), the 3 hives at the top. This makes it like a more interesting missilecommand map.
However, now there is something else. A large elevator can take you straight from the marine base to some corridors behind the hives (from where you can walk to the hives). In other words, both teams have a few more options at their disposal other than 'fly, drop or splat'.
For example, the commander could build a tf and sieges on the lift, and send it up! Or instead or researching jetpacks, send up a HA death squad.
On the other hand, aliens could deliver a surprise to the marine base - how about lift filled with oni or OC's, or a gorge rush...
The lift was a complete pain in the arse to setup, especially with all the cool flashing lights and alarms that have to reset at each round. It's not entirely bug-free (probably), but works most of the time.
If servers would run this map, I think it has the potential to be quite popular. See what you make of it:
[EDIT]This link now points to the latest version, 1.2[/EDIT]

It's a pity these screens are so bloody dark.
.JPG compression merges areas of similar colour, so especially when the contrast is so high, dark areas lose all their detail. In game it wouldn't be much brighter, but you would be able to see your way around the dark spots...
