Quick!
[edit]I'd have posed this question in IRC instead, but I'm on a voluntary tempban from both channels to allow me to get some work done, hence posting here.[/edit]
Looking over Eclipse as I manhandle these empty areas and start tossing in new stuff, I've come to the egg. While I like it a fair bit better than most of the map, I can't help but feel that it just doesn't fit with the rest of the map at all. So, the question is posed: Do you think it fits in the map? I don't care if you like it or not, I'm just weighing the options of replacing it with something that seems a bit more... erm... practical within the theme of the map.
In case you'd forgotten, this is a fairly old view of it:

[edit2]I also don't feel that any changes I make here would slow down my process of completing the map by this coming weekend (my own personal deadline), so don't be afraid to suggest a change simply based on time factors. At the very least, I can replace it with a temporary room if that is the route I decide to take.[/edit2]

Sticking more to your question, I'd say it fits fairly well - but not fantastically. Meaning you could get away with keeping it in, but you could probably find something better to go in it's place.
(But still, it looks cool - use it in something, even if in another map).
Fitting in 100% shouldn't even be something to aim for though... people need to be able to distinguish different parts of your level from another. I think you've done a great job with that so far, but keeping this in could only help.
Do what you think is right though.. I'd miss the room if it were taken out, but it won't kill the level...
but in general i think u can mantein this room.
For a better confrontation btw, can u post a pair of shots of the nearer areas? or better a small movie so we can see how u setted the transition?
i -really- liked this room when your first showed it and i would love to see it in the final release.
Man, it sounds like a soap opera.

Ok, so it's a cross between Melrose Place and the original Batman. Except no one died. Hrmm... /me innocently sets loose a pack of level 5s in downtown Hollywood. There! Now it's a Jerry Bruckheimer movie, too!
