Use UDP+TCP just because I'm not sure which is which.
I believe that is all you need. Might not even need all of them, but nothing else is using it, so who cares. If you want to be able to play from the same machine as the dedicated server, use a port besides 27015, like 27016(good for testing something like a map). Good luck!

That's a perfect way to test. Any of the major game-browsers should work. http://www.serverspy.net is handy for these kinds of tests, as it's entirely web-based, and the search capabilities are decent.
Oh, and im not hosting on my main PC, im hosting on a secondary Computer that go's through a router and then through the firewall? Might this be whats wrong?
Maybe im not just not understanding someting.
I have a linksys router/firewall. Dunno if this will help, posting it anyways.
The hosting computers ip is: 68.14.161:225
Now which number do i use?
Oh, and im sorry if im causeing any truoble by asking all this, im normally can get the right port to work for hosting on other games. But i have never got it to work on HL

NAT routing doesn't block outgoing by defualt so you shouldn't have to enable any "outgoing" ports...
Probably just another one of my idiot problems.

everyone has there moments. Its the number of moments you have the will set you apart from the rest. i'm just kidding man, i know the search is kinda hard to use, but i know i've answered this question a ton, so i knew to filter by my handle to limit the results. I'm sure others answered it as well, but i am the only one that i knew.
HLDS runs off of port 27015 UDP (Default)
Yes please add more detail about your network. If your hosting computers ip is 68.14.161:225, then what is your workstations? I would assume this is DSL since you are running from a router, to a firewall to the server. What OS is the server? Are these on the same lan segment?
Thanks
Internet ---> FreeSCO Router ----->Servers 10.0.1.x
Using this I forward all TCP and UDP requests from 27015 and 27016 to my hl server. My router is not a hardware router is a Linux distro meant for routing. I also have a 2nd lan segment for my workstations.
