Hey, where can I get ns_origin?

Gameplay

Waste handling, those are pretty awsome fights.

Visual

From what I see in pictures, biodome = t3h pwnz.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
My favorite non-custom map hive is probably archiving.

Other cool visuals

Theres this one in ns_sheepship in a wide open cave area place with a medium sized pond near it. That ones cool...
-----------------------------
Wind tunnel on ns_andromeda_beta2, I like all the walkways and the big glass window.
-----------------------------
All the hives on ns_lost.

For gameplay, definitely Refinery hive on Bast. When the marines aren't JP/HMGing it, it is always an awesome fight. There's 3 ways in, and so many places to hide once you are in. It has awesome multi-level combat, and the sheer size of the room is just incredible.

Visuals would have to be Archiving on Hera. I remember the old Oval Hive, and I still rmember when Merk first showed the screenshots of the new archiving hive. To say that we were all impressed would be an inderstatement. It's claustrophobic atmosphere, combined with its style and design is just awesome.

Gameplay: Fusion Reactor on NS_Tanith
Because of all the great battles that have taken place in Cargo Storage right outside it...

Looks: Feedwater on NS_Bast
It just looks so great...gameplay isn't all that good though, its a b*tch for marines to try building in there...

I would have to say the tabletop hive room in Merkaba's "mppt_assam".

Best in all catagories I would have to say.

That, and the nasty sewage water, the butterflys (or something) fluttering around, etc. etc. Comp Core is awesome, the blue lighting, the infestedness, it just looks cool.

Gameplay: Computer Core. You can seige it, you can assualt it, you can jetpack it, and you can hide in it. Maintenece is also really cool, with the lights and the grate floors, and the giant pipes. Good for jetpacking, or assaulting.

i totally agree with every bit of that

Congratulations goes out to all the mappers, it was tough to choose since every map has unique stylings and gameplay dynamics!

In addition to these awards I'd like to give an honorable mention to the Terminal City Teamplay LAN Club for their off-broadway production of "Moulin Rouge" done in mid-air using JPs and Lerks in the Viaduct Hive at some ungodly hour when we all should have been studying or doing something productive like sleeping. It started with synchronize JPing then it just spiraled out of control involving Lerks and then formations and then oh yes, eventually music from Moulin Rouge.

Gameplay
Ventilation 3-C in ns_hera.
Alien:
It's so damm cool to shoot down jetpackers as lerk. The room is big and you can just sit in one spot and shoot everywhere at the hive room.

Marines:
There are lots of siege points at this hive. Prosessing (lame), the res node outside the hive (don't remember the name of it), that little cave which leads to prosessing and that pipe which is under the hive.

Visual
Feedwater hive in ns_bast
It's pretty dark, there is that water area and those weird little flying dot's.
Oh, and there is also a great hiding spot on that roof.

Refinery has always been my favourite hive of all. Both when it comes to looks and gameplay.

I remember when i saw it for the first time, my jaw just dropped to the floor

Gameplay
Duh. Cargo!

Visuals
Umm... harder. I actually think Silo is kind of cool, but the prettiest imo is Feedwater or Refinery.

Oh, and Satcom is a JP dream. A vent FACING the hive with easy coverage? Bleh. HMG fodder.

The best looking hives imho are "Data Core" and "Archiving" both on ns_hera.
The lighting is fantastic and the architecture is very unique and has lots of details.
Second place goe to "Computer Core" and "Eclipse Command" both an ns_eclipse.

The hive with the bast gameplay would be "Computer Core" on ns_eclipse.
It's a lot of fun to attack AND defend that hive both as Marine and Alien

looking: Ventilation 3C It's like so.. grand The big turbine up there, when you go there you're WHOAH I'm gona fall, there's the passage going to Processing...

Playing: Generator on caged. It's just so nice with those things up there methinks, the little level under the path, etc. The only problem is its lack of resource in the hive itself.

As an alien i like feedwater the most, cuz i like attacking atmos, and marine main. There is alot of res near it, too. I hate delta the most, because its hard to keep Processing, and kinda hard to keep Holo clear from there.

As a marine, i like Subspace the most, cuz I can get TONS of kills in the hallways outside of it. Cargo comes in 2nd, because I like dropping skulks like flies in the vent there. I hate Computer Core the most, because you have to kill skulks at very close range, and lerks in the vent drive me nuts.

As far as looks go, I like most of them about the same. I dont like all of NS_Tanith for some reason, the vents and waiting room look fugly.

My favorite hive is cargo bay because of the 3 res towers and the places that connect to it. Plus it is close to the marine start if you are a marine

lol did u get a demo of that???

my fav for looks would be Data core its dark (ish) and moody shame the res is outside though

and gameplay would be viaduct, its damm hard to defend for either team which makes it fun. always on tentahooks (sp?) or large bone-like spikes if your an alien
