<div class="IPBDescription">baffled</div> Hi all,

well I've been playing NS since it first came out some time ago, but I play for fun for a laugh and to win etc etc...

Question: I've seen ppl with clantags (doenst say much, but still) manage to eject the comm (one time me) they got in, and built a second commchair right in the middle of the base for no reason, now is this an exploit of some sort?

just a question lingering in my mind... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Well the only reason I know is that if the first cc gets eaten, which it sometimes does, the game won't be over for the marines.

    The reason people build more CC's in base is to waste res thus screwing the game up for the rest of the players
    It's like gorges running around building SC's on resnodes

    ah well, so I can be definately sure that there is no reason whatsoever (next to the spare chair thing, but I'd do that somewhere else than next to the original one :S ) to build a 2nd commchair? good...

    ok thx <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    yeah that dude was just being mean but sometimes that stupidity if your lucky it will give you the few seconds you need if someone is alive to get in the comm chair and build another comm chair and ip hidden somewhere and maybe go build it... i had a game where we built in refinery hive in ns_bast and we had everythign and they had no clue... we lost due to the ono's flankage but it was a really fun game...

    Um.... I'm not sure exactly what you mean, so I'l try a few variations.

    1: "is building more than one CC an exploit?"
    Nope.

    2: "were they trying to take advantage of some kind of exploit by building a second CC?"
    Nope. They were just wasting your resources.

    I think he meant like
    Build a second CC in a special place in base and you get res twice as fast
    That sorta exploit
    Like building outside the map and whatnot

    Yeah I meant something in that general direction <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Well, ok, question answered, topic may close <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    No exploits.

    However if you are on a map like hera, and the CC keeps getting attacked and is almost dead, building a second one on the floor aint a bad idea, not needed, just keep mines up there, it will cost less res, but it is a solution.

    Other than that, no, there is no reason, unless it is like built on an onos for a laugh <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Placing a 2nd or 3rd or 4th comm chair next to another one is just to screw the team up deliberately because they can not be recycled and they cost 30 res. So there is no exploit to them except blocking off doors =D Which is always fun and expensive.

    just because they have clan tags on, doesnt mean they're part of an ns clan. they could be useing ASE, which auto-detects the names you use in other games for you, or they could just be sad loners who dont know what a clan is (more likely if they're spamming cc's). thankfully, such lamers only turn up occasionally, even though when they do its infuriating. just be calm, lose gratefully, and make sure you're on the opposite team next time. then you can get even. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    if a group of people with a clan tag come in and kick you, thats a "roving pack of llamas" and tell a server opp and they will get killed...

    Why would they want to waste team resources? Surely only by pulling together can marines hope to defeat an army of aliens?

    omg a RESURECTION! and they would want to waste res by screwing up the game for the rines. thus makin them lose.... for some reason it is "funny" to them <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    ive seen some people drop a new cc if the old is near death because welding one takes days, and its easier to blow the 30 res than sacrifice a marine's days of time welding it.... but in your situation it was probly a llama trying to kill your team, because a CC cannot be recycled.

    Sometimes , a new CC can lessen IP exposure , but it's only when marines are under heavy lerk/fade attack and try to form a defensive perimeter. It's only if they have everyone outfitted with HA GLs and JP HMGs of course...

    If the CC is really next to the original one , two rational explanations are possible :
    1) comm is a wacko and tries to protect himself by a CC wall. Very questionable strategy
    2) comm is a rager and ruins the game. No need to eject him , the only things to do are a call to F4 and a kickvote.
