My Hud Has Gone Black?

This is what happens to my HUD now. It doesnt matter if I play as marine or alien.

I removed NS and reinstalled trying to fix, it did nto work.

What could have caused this?

    It may be a brightness/contrast/gamma problem. Try to change these values in the config menu.

    Type
    "gamma" & "brightness" in console ( without the quotes for anyone who still dosen't get that even though every single post ever since the dawn of time ALWAYS says without the quotes for some bloody reason )
    Then tell us what it says
    Seeing as how you reinstalled NS those should be reset to though

    I just stated having the same problem. It also affects the command console. Re-installing didn’t help me either.

    Gamma is 2.5000000
    Brightness is 1.000000

    This happened after I installed DoD. Did the same thing happen for you? I didnt give it much thought since the two should not effect each other in any way. But I am looking at all possibilities.

    I don't know exactly what it is that you mean with black,

    But I had a bug in the weapons bar some time ago, when I'd press 1,2,3,4 it wouldnt show what weapon it was on the screen, the upper weaponbar was totally missing.

    I accidentally messed up my HL lately, and accidentally deleted my HL dir 3 days ago <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> (yeah I am THAT dumb) but after both re-installations it was back to the way it should be again,

    but now my graphics are totally buggered <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    sigh...

    (with re-installing, also delete the stuff the de-installer leaves on your HD, just get rid of everything)

    Well then i think it is pretty safe to say that DoD 1.0 Install is jacking with NS somehow.

    The question is HOW? I mean they shouldnt be conflicting with each other in any way.

    i know my gamma is set to 5 (default, i never changed it) so that may be the problem..
    not sure what my brightness is

    the fact that his hud IS there but it is BLACK (if you look closely you can see ie) meens there is something very screwy

    Anyway the defaults are
    Brightness 1
    Gamma 2.5
