Skulk Walk...

<div class="IPBDescription">Thoughts?</div> Lo Peeps,

Just recently I've started using the 'walk' key while skulking, anyone else use it or am I wasting my time here?

What kind of a difference will it make from a marine POV ( skulk sounds further away than it really is <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> or no difference at all ?)

    It makes the skulk a bit more silence.
    But i rarely use it. (maybe because i can't find a free key for it near my movement keys <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> )

    I use it when silence isn't an option if trying to be sneaky, but I wish they'd make it much quieter than it currently is. It's still like tap dancing on sheet metal. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I never use walk, if i want to get close i wait for a team mate to attack from another direction, run around in circles spamming chuckle to cover his appraoch then run in after him.

    a slow skulk is a dead skulk, and a dead skulk is useless <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Still too darn noisy TBH, always favour the drop and chomp approach <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I find it very useful.... especially for sneaking up on marines building.. Or for ambushing where u can dissapear off one side of a doorway, walk up and over, and attack from the OTHER side... or basically just moving anywhere u don't want to raise too much attention (eg. sneaking up on the marine base to kill the ips when they leave).

    It makes a big difference as far as I've seen.. yeh it's not completely silent but it makes it much harder to track you.

    I never walk, at all. Never have, if I need to go slow, I crouch, and I never need to with Skulks, Lerks, or Gorges.

    Personally, I'm into rushing up and trying to bite em as quickly as possible. Recently, I've been using my teammates more for cover lol, I used to be the first in all the time, now, I wait.

    I like walking, it's the best alternative to the silence upgrade. Walking means that you're still faster than a marine (and can sneak up on him while he's moving), but that he will have trouble hearing you over the sound of his footsteps. A building marine is easy pickings too. Of course, if you're the type who rushes into melee at the first hint of a marine nearby, it will do more harm than good (i.e. slowing you down), but if you like being sneaky, if you prefer the first sign of your presence to be your fangs slicing through a marines back armor, then go ahead, use it, use it, USE it.
    Makes the 'rhines paranoid too. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Walking is still loud enough to tip off marines to an ambush. A better solution, when applicable, is to simply get into position really fast before the marines are within earshot. They won't suspect a thing (sans MT [I think that's a font, lol]).

    Walking can be useful when the marines are making lots of noise. But, consider this: even though the marines are making too much noise to hear your approach, they can still move faster than you! So, you're going to have to run anyways to get them.

    It might work out okay if you have celerity. I don't think celerity makes you noisier, but it would make walking fast enough to be practical.

    Skulk walk is fairly useless. Does make a funny animation though.

    What is an even more funnier animation for almost all the characters is done by holding down the use key and walking. I had my team cracking up when I was gorge and held down the use key and entered the room and complained that i was out of breath. A gorge looks like he is out of gas when you do it. It is sort of but not really usefull as a skulk. you move super slow (good for trying to peek out of a vent) but its plays the sound as if your walking at full speed.

    Another funny thing to do is look straight up, I mean *straight* up, and press forward. You look like you are old and feeble!

    Lol, so skulk walk is useless unless you're trying to entertain the audience in the ready room <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> How about walking as a marine, I find I use this occasionally while on the way to a location just to check for any skulk *pitter-patter* ?

    as a rine the sound diference is only like .2 seconds longer to realize it, as an alien, the speed from not walking is far mroe efective

    To me it doesn't even seem muffled.. it just seems to slow your movement.

    Yeah...skulk walk is just to noticable unless you in a hive room or somthin.

    Well it might not work against ppl with good headphones, but against most pubbers walking is great... one sneaky tactic is to just dissapear off one side of a doorway and chomp them from the other side... and unless they have motion tracking it works 80% of the time.

    Skulks go *tap tap* not *squish squish* btw <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I find walking as a skulk is worse than run fast and stop to wait for the burgers...
