<div class="IPBDescription">Oh please help me...PLEASE!</div> This is a problem that I have been trying to fix for sometime.
I'll be playing NS and all of a sudden the game will stop, exit and give me a "NET SEND PACKET ERROR :waestnr" or something like that...
After that I will have to shut down HL through the task manager.
It gets really annoying especially during CAL matches. Please help me out! <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo-->

You have to turn of some "Messenger" program to fix it.
I forgot where it is, but I think I would figure it out by the time I get home from school.
go to off topic or the stikies here they might have it:)
I you have to uninstall something thats in the modem.
Go to your control panel and look for <b>Network Connections</b> or <b>Modems</b>.
Then right click on your service provider and select <b>Properties</b>.
Click on the <b>Networking</b> tab.
Now there should be a text that says <b>This connection uses the following items</b>.
And then theres a list it uses.
Now here's the hard part. I forgot which one I uninstalled so you have to tell me what yours say and I might be able to remeber it. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
It does NOTHING for net packet errors.
Net Packet errors occur because of VAC.
Does this happen to you in NS or only in CS/DoD???
again, MonsE has a webed thing on how to turn it off (even if it isn't the cause turn it off any way <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

Disabling Messenger is to stop those annoying pop up messages about getting diplomas etc.
Messenger != MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger.
QoS myth does nothing
Messenger will stop popups
The above do not solve the net packet error.
VAC causes net packet errors
seeing how as VAC dosn't exist in NS please don't say that
next up that msnger thing (and YES I know that he is speaking of the windows msngr service) has been known to causes problems with HL (and as I said I think this one is it)

It doesn't happen because a server is crappy, because of your ISP, none of that. It happens because someone tried to send you a net send and sent you a bad packet(on purpose). I know of NO, ABSOLUTELY NO games that use windows messenger so it was intended to **** you up.
