    This ain't the place.  This forum is for NS Mapping only.

    Check out the Valve ERC: <a href="http://www.valve-erc.com/" target="_blank">http://www.valve-erc.com/</a> for that kind of info.

    He needs help for configuring for NS.  I realize a lot of the info is general, but the VERC forums are pretty quiet these days...

    I have the same problem, but right now I just compile the map into half-life for testing. Kinda annoying being really small and not having the particles and whatnot, but it works.

    Could anyone help me and Predator on this?

    I have it personally set up like this right now (and it doesn't work):
    - I use the csg from the tools folder in the installer, the bsp from the tools folder, the Zoners rad and vis. the hullfile thing kinda stumps me, as the instructions on where to put it didn't help much. If I remember correctly the guide said "add it to your csg params". yea ... umm ... thanks. <!--emo&???--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo-->

    If anyone can help that would be appreciated, if not fine, if you need more info, just ask.

    Righty, Here you go:

    1. Open VHE.
    2. Click on "Tools" on the upper toolbar.
    3. Click on the "Game Configurations" tab.
    4. Press the "Edit" button to the right of the "Configuration" box.
    5. Press "Add", type "NS" into the text field, and press OK.
    6. Now, back at the Game Configurations area, press the "Add" button to the right of the "Game Data File" box, browse to your nstr folder, and select the ns.fgd. Press OK.
    7. Leave the Texture Format at WAD3.
    8. Leave the Map Type at Half-Life / TFC.
    9. Select whatever you want for Default PointEntity class, I use "light".
    10. Select whatever you want for Default SolidEntiy class, I use func_illusionary.
    11. Select your appropriate directory for the Game Executable directory, mine is "C:\SIERRA\Half-Life"
    12. Choose your directory for Mod Directory, mine is "C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\nstr"
    13. Choose your directory for Game directory, mine is "C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\nstr"
    14. Choose the directory where you want all your rmf files (VHE map files) to be saved for RMF directory, mine is "C:\Program Files\Valve Hammer Editor\maps"
    15. Press OK on the Game configuration tab.
    16. Be sure to add "ns.wad" to your texture list in the Textures Tab.

    Hope that helps. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Arg! Those posts weren't there when I started that reply... well, ignore it then, heh. So the problem is with the nshulls.txt? Make sure it's in the same folder as your .map files that you compile, otherwise it doesn't work.

    heh sorry bout posting before you.  <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

    I'm confused as to where to add the -hullfile c:\sierra blah nshullts.txt thingy when I'm compiling. I went to expert, clicked csg, and added it after the $map\$file or whatever it is. Is this right? all on the same line? I would post a picture but I don't have a functioning ftp atm. Thanks for your help Ken.

    Oooh, well I know others that would suggest otherwise, but I think using a compiling frontend like Batch Compiler is the best way to go, especially when using custom tools like this. Batch Compiler can be found <a href="http://countermap.counter-strike.net/Nemesis/batch.html" target="_blank">here.</a> It's basically a GUI alternative for compiling levels.

    If you decide to pick it up, and set it up to work with ns (I could help with that, if you have trouble there), there is an option called "Hull File" on the CSG tab. Check that, and type in "nshulls.txt". To work, the nshulls.txt file must be in the same directory as the map you're compiling.

    <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Pred posted before me, so... yeah. Glad you've got it figured out. But Mas, if you're still having trouble, you might want to check out BatchCompiler, and use the Hull File check box thingy. Post here if you need help setting it up for NS.
