<div class="IPBDescription">Layout</div>here's the layout of ns_election, a join venture between CampaignJunkie and myself. I know we only have like...8 or 9 days to finsih, but it's summer and we have no lives. 8)

    i don't see the commander console  ?
    is the map large enough to be from the commander console to the nearest hive 30 sec ?

    I accualty, love it.  In an thread that I just posted in, the mapper was trying to create a fast pased, but easy to understand layout -- and I think that is what he have here.  This is one of the new layouts that I dont have any suggestions on how to improve, this is very nice work, HubbubJub.

    I realize that the hives may not be far enough away, but I thought 30 seconds was a bit steep (rebel against authority!  <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo--> ) and they are still at least 20 seconds apart. I can always change the layout later to make it fit the 30 second guideline. And still, it may be a 30 second walk...I can't really tell from a drawing. More feedback/curses would be appreciated.

    Ok, after looking at it on a smaller size, the right hive does seem too close but like you said you could make it longer, etc.  I think you should lose the bob only vent that leads into the marine spawn becuase off the bat, if the bobs rush that area then they could have complete control over the marine spawn in a matter of 45 seconds.  Keep that in mind.  I would also like to see more alien vents on 'thier side' of the map.  I really like your weld open poistions.. I can just see someone trying to weld open a door while his buddies try to fight off the aliens. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

    Yeah, I was actually thinking about taking out the Bob-vent near the marine spawn...and adding more Bob-vents near the hives seems like a good idea. Thanks...I'll be back with an update soon.

    I took out many welds because a) someone could get stuck inside the welds or b) the second one is redundent.

    It appears too easy to seal off the bottom left hive from the rest of the map.  This would prevent the aliens getting 3 hives and all the juicy levels and upgrades thate come with it.

    The hives on the right seem too close together, that corridor would make it way too easy for the marines to wipe out both hives in quick sucession.

    Don't make your vents long stright runs, in gameplay this is really boring and the marines rule in long confined spaces.

    I feel you might want another vent in the middle room to enourage folks to go in there.

    Six days... tick tock... what are you waiting for...

    Lol, okay, I see...but this is just a ROUGH ROUGH (but not ghetto) draft...in the actual map, there will be pillars, etc. to break up the monotony and make more obstacles to hide behind. But I understand your concerns, and I will do my best to fix them.

    Oh and I've been seeing a lot of jetpack equipped marines crawling though 'alien only' vents lately.  Something to think about.

    Tne only way to make a true <!--emo&:bob:--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bob.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':bob:'><!--endemo--> only vent is to use trigger_presence's team flags to open func_doors or fire trigger_hurts.  I haven't seen a map that has done this yet as it is a fairly extreme thing to do.

    But of course, if you make the vents so you have to wallclimb/fly to get into them, the marines won't come in before they get jetpacks later in the game.
