'fun Maps' In 1.1

with the decreased jp thrust and decreased fuel to 1.04 ( i think it might be the same as 1.0) well anyway are fun maps still possible? i mean the fun maps where marines have to tech up to jp asap and attack alien hives. Im thinking in 1.1 the jp wont have enough thrust to get up there. some maps include ns_missilecommand, ns_ninja_fal, ns_freefall_b13

    Fun maps will still be around, but the maps in question will likely have to be redesigned for the new version.

    Yeh thats what i mean, my fav server plays fun maps all the time. It might see some downtime while it gets rid of/waits for updated maps.

    Not to be off topic, but Is it just me or are comms able to build in the map ns_misslecommand? Thats so weird, how did they do that?

    Oh well.... anyway Goliath, this doesn't matter because the 'fun' maps (if you call misslecommand and it's look-alikes fun), aren't official maps, and therefore the ns team isn't required to adapt the game to fit them.

    well comms can build in any map (I assume you mean the "use" while in the cc bug) it just has to be in a place where the comm's veiw is low to the ground

    1.1 will be too much fun, and therefore 'fun' maps are obviously going to be made illegal. Don't want you to OD on fun.

    how do u do it tho i saw some guy build in misslecommand w/o ever getting out and i tried over and over to do it but couldnt figure it out... plz tell me!!!!!!!

    We don't test the 'fun' maps. It'd be counter-productive if we had to devote time to testing ns_misslecommand et cetera rather than actually working out standard gameplay and balance bugs in the standard and the new maps.

    Don't take my word for it, but I'd say it's quite likely the dev team does not give a flying crap about the 'fun' maps and whether or not they'll still work in 1.1.

    Thank you, thats all i wanted to know. btw it cant seriously be that hard to take 2 min to make a server and test if they work. saves alot of mappers alot of time so they can redo their maps for 1.1.

    For maps like that, an easy quick-fix solution is to play with a lower gravity setting. Play around with different settings until you find one that works best for those maps with the new movement restrictions.

    The real problem would be Siege... the entire alien team could gorge and probably get almost every RT in the alien area up before the door opens, plus defenses. That'll need to be reworked.

    Flay & co. have their hands full balancing the intended gameplay style of NS. If people want to alter the rules to that extent, they're going to have to do it on their own... Flay doesn't have the time to balance every little mod and funmap that comes out. Do you think the CS team balances each new version for all the killbox maps out there?

    Commanders can no longer build in any map; the +use command is disabled when you are in the comm chair in 1.1.

    I can't be alone in feeling that these "fun" maps are the "Big Game Hunters" of Natural Selection. I tend to cross servers from my list once these maps start to show up.

    1.1 isn't going to be fixed for the fun maps. But to be honest all maps like missile command need are ledges on the side so marines can hop their way up using jps, its no big deal.

    siege may need to be rebalanced but isn't the point as marines to hold off the aliens until you can siege the hive... I mean yeah you can just run in but thats not fun. Last time I played it aliens got beat to crap anyways cus it takes so long to get res early. 1.1 might actually balance that map out.
