<div class="IPBDescription">new .wad for NS</div> <b>UPDATE (9th July)</b>

I've put together a new .wad for NS. The second cut has almost 100 textures. The third around the same.
A few of them have samples from the original ns.wad.

Changes:

THE WHITE WALL SET HAS BEEN DELETED. It was crap. MSG me if you want a copy of the back-ups. No other files will be deleted from the wad from here on. They were a first attempt for an ns set, and looked it.

Intead, we have a new wall set started, "moreteck", and a new thingo, animated overlays. For the animated overlays, use as normal, and possibly use a texturelight setting such as "glow" or "strobe". Makes the comp screens more alive.

The grey set has been dirtied up a bit.

You can download the .zip file here:

<a href='http://www.wrongwaygoback.com/downloads/ns_remix_wad.zip' target='_blank'>ns_remix_wad.zip</a>

There are five wall sets now:

Brown:

Blue:

<img src='http://www.wrongwaygoback.com/images/designforlife/ns/wad_example4.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

Grey:

<img src='http://www.wrongwaygoback.com/images/designforlife/ns/wad_example5.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

Grit:

<img src='http://www.wrongwaygoback.com/images/designforlife/ns/wad_example6.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

And I've started a "moreteck" set. Here's the first one, which I'd like comment on:

<img src='http://www.wrongwaygoback.com/images/designforlife/ns/wad_example8.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

And I've included the "hologram computer thingy" set as well:

<img src='http://www.wrongwaygoback.com/images/designforlife/ns/wad_example7.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

Plus one of the most gluttenous sets I've started, the ANIMATED OVERLAY, of which there are three versions so far.

<img src='http://www.wrongwaygoback.com/images/designforlife/ns/wad_example9.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>

Also added some bits and bobs.

Enjoy. Freedback welcome.

    An error has been found with a name duplication with another wad - i'm just uploading a new .zip now.

    (If you have already downloaded the file and have wally, just change the name "wall_bluestrip" to "wall_bluestrip<b>e</b>")

    The glyph and white wall texture are a bit of a waste, but there are some good textures in there. I can do better looking infestation for you if you'd like me to.

    moretec texture set looks best to me and fits for ns theme. Animating overlay textures, nice idea!

    Nice textures excepted the glyph (i think a glyph's story is always speaking about a personal coup-de-coeur) ; nevertheless, good job WWGB, keep on this.

    Thanks for the feedback... I threw in the glyphs to see the reaction - seems its fairly negative, so heh. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Does anyone have a base "infected" sample, other than those supplied in the ns.wad. Chromeangle, did you simply rebuild the infection from scratch, or are you using something inparticular (looks great BTW - I'll include it, if that's okay by you.).

    The blue-light overlay looks FUBAR in-game, so I need to tinker with that one.

    As for ditching the white - maybe.

    I'm hoping the next release will have 100 textures total - no names will change though, so it should be fully compatible with this version.

    Thanks for the feedback, more to come so time next week.

    In the first .zip i posted the wall "wall_bluestripe" had a typo, making it "wall_bluestrip". I fixed that, just re-download the zip.

    My technique basicly consists of spray painting the attached texture over the target texture, layering it more thicky at the edges and where I think he bactiurum would congeal.

    Thanks Chrome, I'll take another stab at the infected skins for the second release.

    i'm just uploading a new version of the ns_remix.wad now.
    If you're wondering why there are a whole buncha things written in Russian, it's because my map is taking place on a Russian installation...

    Wow this looks hot! Nice set of textures, I would love to use them.
    Just a small thing. I take this texture as a example:
    <img src='http://www.wrongwaygoback.com/images/designforlife/ns/wad_example8.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
    It has allmost no "edges". If you add some dark layers at the buttom, top and around the vents it will look <b>much</b> better ingame. Else it will look very wierd. (The overlay between two textures will be to harsh)

    Thanks for the feedback, but I'm not sure what you mean. The texture has been made to permanently repeat in each direction. I could darken those areas up a bit, I guess... I'll post a resample tonight.

    The textures that came with NS was getting so boring, thank you wrongwayback, I hope you do some more.

    I think all mappers in this forum appreciate your hard work.

    yeah, meant to edit and say that I had picked it up. Very nice tex set man... it'll probably see some use by me in all of my failed map starts. =)

    man i just started using these, and i must say i love them to peices. It's weird, but i sort of get inspiration from a texture and then map somewhat based on that. Anyway, started making this the other day, then tweaked it a bit last night and this is what i got. Thought you might like to see what someone was doing with your tex's. Also... might i implore upon you to make some different colored lights? Orange is cool, but i was playing around with PS and the pic with blue lighting is just awesome. Same with red. Obviously you don't have to, but i think it would be great if you did.
