<div class="IPBDescription">Model and Skin</div> I need a link to the original hive model and skin. Some reason some servers don't allow custom models/skins for hives.
If you know where to get them much apprecated.

If im correct i think that if you delete your hive.mdl then join a sever it 'might' download the hive.mdl, this only works on some severs not all.

If the original model backups are not posted as a sticky, they should be <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

How long does it take to change the name or make a copy of the original model file?, about a second.

    Gee, your right.

yet we keep getting people in here asking for the original models.

So how about we do it for those people that are not quite as responsible as you?

A good habit to get into is to make a new folder named 'originals' or 'backup' in your models folder. Before you install a new model, copy or move the original model into the backup folder. If you ever need the original again, just copy it from your backup.

i just used win rar to back up the models directory, made a rar achive named models.rar and then made one after i installed my custom models named custom.rar. Makes it simple, if i want to go on a server which wont allow custom models i click models.rar, and hey presto, everything back as it should be.

Forget it, I'm sure people will read the tips and suggestions and abide by them after seeing how clearly a good decision it is to do so.

Just like the people in the S&I forums follow tips like... using the search function <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Seriously, it would be a good idea anyway to have a place to download the original models in case something goes FUBAR- why are you guys so determined that this shouldn't happen?

Ah well, I don't care. I've got my originals...

Only problem is that when you join a server, you won't get the *t.mdl file :S

Or install NS twice. Pretty simple, now i have one NS folder named "ns.bak" and another folder is "ns".
So i have default models in "ns.bak" folder and custom models in the other folder.

If i want to try some new model, i just put it in "ns" folder and enter the game. Then if i dont like it and want to switch it back to default all what i have to do is to copy the same model from "ns.bak" folder and paste it in "ns". <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

And if i want to play in servers which has file consistensy on, i can switch the folder names. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

This one is only good to do If you have plenty of memory at your diposal. Personally I allways swap out the old file into a seprate folder.

I'm going to be posting a little "tutorial" about setting yourself up to play both with custom models and on default servers (that is, switching back and forth between custom and vanilla NS).
