We've all seen the footage for Half-Life 2, the 24-26 minute long quicktime movie where we see the strider get hit with the letters "F" "U"

What future does NS have in HL2 if any, that has been publicly announced?

    This is something that's be brought up time and time again, so i'm going to be pretty blunt.

    There are (to the best of our knowledge) no plans to port NS to another engine.

    And all that was talked about before HL2 was ever shown to be coming out, in very deep and involved discussions

    Just like George Bush changes his standing on what he should do with the US Military from trying to become President and _actually_ being President, a Dev Team of a Game could always change its mind when "new developments occur"

    Like the announcement of HL2

    Which was April 25th I believe...
    In the 45 min dev interview found on GameSpot(no link, you need to be registered anyways, and that costs money), it was apparently said that you can copy&paste code to HL2, if that could be confirmed, would Flay reconsider?

    im sure you could, but itd be the same.....

    You'd have to recode aspects of the game to take advantadge of the engines new abilities and features. You could make NS exactly as it is today in HL2, but the engine wouldn't magically make the game look better. The NS team would have to re-do every bit of art in the game to take advantadge of HL2's higher poly abilities...not to be confused with the 100s of other new things its capable of. Otherwise you'd have the exact same game, and what would be the point?

    So, they wouldn't be starting over, but I don't think it'd be anything close to easy.

    Hopefully value will allow you to install hl mods in hl2 and still allow them to connect to hl1 servers, that way we can benefit from some of the hl2 nicities if we want to.

    So I could close it? Dunno... but yes, if it can be ported with some ease, the matter will be looked into when the team gets their hands on the SDK. With the game not even out, it's like asking how good you are at baseball, when the sport hasn't been invented.
