No Interest In Playing Ns1.04 Anymore..

<div class="IPBDescription">..because 1.1 sounds so much better</div> i used to play NS for 4-5 hours a day but after reading the beta forum i have zero interest to play NS anymore until the new version comes out. anyone else?

I'm with ya on this one. I will occasionally join some friends if they are on one of our servers but other than that I idle in irc for 5-10 hours or more. I've even considered change my server over to Vampire Slayer till 1.1 comes out but I've giving permission for someone to use it for a tourney every friday night.

That’s really sad. Instead of trying to make the best of a *somewhat* bad situation you are just going to ditch it completely. NS is a great mod, sure it has its faults and annoyances but that shouldn't be the driving factor behind you leaving it behind. If that’s you case then you might as well stop playing games altogether because let me tell you, no game is perfect. No game will ever be perfect their will always be bug and llamas using cheep tactics and exploits, you can’t get around them. No I don’t feel the same way you do and I will keep playing NS 1.04 and beyond, bugs and all.

I think 1.1 will be a lot better than 1.04 but I still play a lot on public servers and a lot in clangames. I like v1.04 even if it has defaults, and I keep liking it, that's it.

With the prevalence of exploits (skulk flying and bunny hopping (strafe jumping)) having completely taken over my servers. Not to mention the complete lack of teamwork or respect amongst the majoriy of the players. I'm not surprised 1.04 is struggling in terms of popularity.

I've already ended the life of one of my servers (one of two very popular uk based servers). The other one is probably going to be killed soon. Basically its been over-run with the sorts of people who don't deserve to be allowed in teamgames. I could ban them all but that only leaves an empty server. All the regulars who were teamplayers have left in despair with the situation which is completely untenable from an admin point of view (getting good admins and subjecting them to the job of maintaining the game-play is impossible with the current crop of players).
This combined with random server crashes and extreme performance requirements have taken their toll on my willingness to support this mod in its current stage of release.

Hopefully 1.1 will give us admins a little more help in controlling the game play and limiting exploits - its had a lot of development time so I hope its a more mature product in terms of compatibility (gcc libraries and admin-mod), performance requirements and being more secure in terms of exploits. I've read some encouraging things in the beta forms but I reserve judgement until I see it run myself. I can but hope ...

Until then I think 1.04 is best forgotten about - at least on my servers.

i still play alot of NS on pubs, only mod i play now, there seems to be fewer expierenced players playing on most server, and i'm stuck trying to com n00bs, and loosing seems to be a habit that marines are getting in to

I stopped playing ns about 3 months ago because i wanted to wait for 1.1

Got tired of the same old same old and with 1.1 sounding as good as it does i just have zero interest in playing ns in its current form.

I hope the community comes back full force when 1.1 comes out.

And for those who are complaining that 1.1 will kill the popularity of ns, what about its dying popularity now?

Well I just announced the end of my hosting for the time being. I've run out of reasons to do it anymore. Hopefully 1.1 will re-inspire me ... Ironically posting on these forums a few minutes ago cemented my decision. My last server will shut down tomorrow morning.

i still enjoy NS for it being strongly team-play orientated.. if NS ever loses this, it'll become just another FPS..

as far as this post and playing 1.04.. i still do. exploits of the mod are taking their toll on my gaming, but as i mentioned in my first line, its the team play i enjoy..

I stopped playing NS because ramboing seems to have taken over, and it just frustrating having to deal with jetpack rushes and all those other lame tactics. I really hope 1.1 will fix this.

ive stoped playing ns also... just no reason to play.. i play cs now. Hopfuly i dont get addicted to that agian and Quit ns all together. i love ns

you Can see were not getting the 1.1 patch for atleast another 1 1/2 months. Flayras just testing new things still SO you KNOW that patch aint anywere near done.

ns is a great mod i love it to death, but at this point i just cant bring my self to play a game.

And while we sit here twidling our thumbs the "better people" of ns get to play the patch and have fun while we play the same broken game over and over. Sigh.... i shall miss yyou my love NS.

I can't believe you people, last chance to play the game the way it is, with or without lame marine tactics. I know many of you (me included) will miss the current lerk system (physics, weapons, everything) even if the changes are for the better (which I trust the dev team/pts/vets to make it)

Several playtesters have said approximately two weeks. It will likely be longer than that, but two months is pushing it.

At this rate, there'll be no-one to play 1.1 when its released. I looked at the server stats earlier today, approximately 2 people to each server...thats pretty messed up. Used to be loads of people playing before...oh how things change.

For all you know it could be ready to go and the only reason we don't know anything about the 4th fade ability is that Flayra's ordered everyone to keep it secret.

However, that said I'm not expecting 1.1 for around another four weeks or so.

Wow, if you guys don't find ns1.04 fun to play anymore than it sounds like you guys are playing the same maps with no new strategy. NS 1.04 is still a very exciting game, you just have to create new strategies. Of course 1.1 will make it a lot easier and viable for these new strategies but if that doesn't work, try playing on a server with new maps. Try Mayberry games server. They play with custom maps all the time and it is an extreme amount of fun.

Waiting for the next version is all good, but sometimes you just gotta get your fix ;-)
As for me, 1.02 started getting really boring, but now I play on a server that offers mostly balanced gameplay. 1.04 is fine, 1.1 will be fun, 1.11 will be better (:
As for waiting for 1.1 to come out, you can do it, just think about how many years you spend not being allowed to drive a car; some things you have to wait for, plain and simple.

FLay this happens with any and all fan bases that are put throught this teasing process. When the fan base is left out and teased with tons of info about how much better and cooler the game will be this happens. Look at the wait fo rthe diablo2 1.10 patch. Any patch that is high anticipated makes the peopel who have to wait cry. People have been waiting for the 1.10 patch for over a year.

look at the diablo 2 forums on battle.net and youll see what i mean. Your case isnt speacial your going through what every other game goes through. Not to sound like a whiner or a griever, I too can't be bothered wiht 1.04 anymore, it just plain annoys me like hell now. I'm waiting for 1.1. Until then -- I'm rediscovering the joys that are CS and DoD. And you know what, Flayra, it's a game that YOU created. Naturally not everything said is going to be positive, I'm not going to say "OMG this game blows, you ruined NS" but It's just not interesting to me anymore, what with all the exploits people have discovered and basically the same old thing over and over again. It's a great MOD, and has GREAT potential as I've been telling you over the past few months, keep at it; I'm sure 1.1 will be GREAT.

You seriously need to realize that there will always be critics as Orson Wells once canned the phrase "Everyones a critic" and to that end, yes; everyone on these forums is a critic, positively or negative -- and you will not always get positive criticism and floor shining about Natural-Selection. If you want that kind of stuff, you need to build an empire like Bill Gates where people are just spineless "YES men"

I look forward to the release of 1.1 and hope it's as good as the 1.04 release was when it was originally sent out to people. Keep up the good work, have fun and take care.

I think 1.04 is a well balanced game. The better players will win, but I hate all the freakin facking and not knowing for sure if someone is hacking. I want first person view now. Die hackers die.

What money? The only way he could possibly make money off of a FREE mod would be to SELL it i.e. retail CS or DoD. Which hopefully will never happen.

You know back in the old days of TF and such we ALL played the "betas". I really dont understand this new exclusive junk at all. Last time i checked NS was still a mod right or was it released by valve or some company that requires an NDA so others cant steal and sell their idea.

What the hey.

I think most people are smart enough to understand the game is still being worked on and wouldnt freak out and leave if there were bugs. It dont gota be perfect. Sorry to be blunt but its just plain stupid to have the same old game being played until everyone is bored of it while there is another playable version being kept hidden away.
