How To Kill Fades When The Game Is Lost

its worth it
why must marines camp.... if you lose your forward outpost, and the first few fades start attacking your base, they most likely have regen, d chamber nearby, or a healing gorge... if you camp. the fade can rush in.. kill two of you rush out, rinse and repeat. Whereas if BEFORE the entire team goes fade, you rush out.. and KILL THE FIRST FEW FADES, you can deal a huge resource blow... while this probably wont help you win... i was in one game where this rush did... then because we had a huge amount of resources, we rushed a hive just after the 3rd hive went up.. we all had heavies and lmg and welders (all 12 of us, we had like 300 res) and we relocated to that hive. They had 2 onos, and one by one over a half hour time they eventually did get us as we could not secure a res node in generator. However fighting off the first fades allowed us to rush a hive and thereby turn the game into massive fun.. welding.. shooting reloading.. it was amazing.. one by one seeing heavies drop.. and lights pick up the welders...

The moral of the story? take out the FADES before there are too many!

This basically goes back to all computer-based RTS games - Focus Fire. You get a bunch of your own people and get them all to attack ONE THING. So if you all concentrate your attack on a fade he will die before he gets a chance to run away. It really proves its worth when happing upon stacks of OCs.

Yeah, i do this almost every time against a fade...The way i see it is, when a player becomes a fade, they think that the marines will run because they are a bigger more powerful alien..."which the marines normally do" If you get about 2 marines to do it, the fade wont be expecting it and you could probably kill him.

lol, i rush onos too. I dont see a point but i do anyways.

Also, i was watching some marines attack skulks with knifes, the funny part is the skulks we're runing from a marine with only a knife. I guess the same thing applys as above. The aliens suppose that marines will back off if you run at them. Try it sometimes, its quite funny to watch.

Sort of like swimming head-on against a dangerous shark or charging at a raging bull in order to confuse & disorientate them.

I agree, being a fade and having a marine coming straight at you is very intimidating, it's even worse when they start knifing and then screen rocks about.

In theory it's a good strategy, but in practice it wouldn't work on too many pub servers because (1.) the marines would probably panic and start aiming at random fades and (2.) they wouldn't know which fade to aim for in the first place.

which is why PUB SERVERS SUCK.... however sometimes if u have voice chat and address people by name.. you can get them to do what u want
say... next fade to come around the corner we ALL chase till he dies... and maybe 3 people will.. which is nuff...

I rushed fades a lot with a great deal of success when I first started playing NS.

Lately they've also had umbra making it absolutely futile.

I've killed lots of fades just alone.

If a lone fade attacks base, he can be easily killed. One LMG clip can cut a fade to pieces, easily if there are 1-2 upgrades. Sometimes I tend to shoot few rounds off the target. That's when I finish fade with my pistol.

I killed like 5 fades with LMG + Pistol combo in one game. After that fades started to camp near DCs.

Anyway my point is, fade goes down if marine can shoot straight and fade is unexperienced (like they usually are in pub games). Experienced fades just switch to melee attack and slice me.

Point is to rush at fade after he has delivered 2-3 "bombs" so he is lown on energy. After all he needs 2 direct hits to kill a marine. So there is plenty time to kill a fade.

lot depeneds on teamwork...if you can get enough marines to rush the first few fades you can take them down. Those aliens you do kil as fades will definatly not have enough res to go fade again. Thus you have just cut off those couple fades for a chunk of the game. The biggest problem I see is halfway or 3/4 into games when most of the alien team is fade and they have a stack of res and are trying to take the third hive back. At that point even if you drop a couple fades, the alien usually still has the res to just go fade again. Now it may take him about 2-3 minutes to evolve everything and get back to the battle...but he is still back in.

Kill em early and sacrafice...not like you won't just respawn in a short while anyways.

Yeah it's pretty amusing when you're on the right side of a knife kill on a skulk. When you get to play cool people you can say "hey wanna duel skulky? (assuming you're rine) teeth v knife?"
Start humming that Star Trek bit when Kirk and Spock are thrown into a duel together. Good times!

Not so amusing when you're on the recieving end of a death from a piece of steel. Too embarressing

I wish I had a clan so I would finally get out of the newbies hands. While you're tactic is focusing fire, keep your eyes pealed. Every team will protect their first fades at every price. So watch out for skulks and lerks+umbra(damn that umbra, where is my GL?)

Best way to kill a fade. Ambush him. shoot him in the back.
  • Brave_UlyssesBrave_Ulysses Join Date: 2003-04-28 Member: 15922Members
I did that, but I had an LMG so I ended up redeeming him. Basically it happened in Eclipse. I went a long way round and snuck up behind a fade and a lerk. As people HMGed him from front and he acidspammed them I shot him up from behind. He must have kept himself busy avoiding HMG fire to notice me. After he left the lerk saw me an ate me all up.

    HEHE. good joke that hehe,
Anyway ontopic, I think the best way to kill fades is to get into a vent. That way they cant actually get up, and you go backwards so you have no splash damage. Then nade launch until it gets owned.
