<div class="IPBDescription">Maybe an alternative?</div> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> It seems like everytime I join a server theirs always reserved slots, but more than 50% of the time their are clan members that have reserved slots in their names in the server. I think that someone should come up with something, I'll give a scenario. Killer trys to join a server that is 20/22 players, theirs a co leader and a member of the clan that owns the server in the server, Killers friend Snake wants to join too. If they both want to join and a co leader and member of the clan that own the server are in their, it should let anyone else in and take up the reserved slots since theyre already in there. If you get what im saying its a good idea, reserved slots are just annoying. I'd rather have no reserved slots so I could hammer it from HLIT in mIRC, or if I pick a game and say lets go play with 3 friends and 4 spots are reserved, its annoying. 18/26 being full.... GRRRRR
If you have a large server and lock out 8 spots, then its really just an average server thats pretending to be big! <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
play on non-clan servers and you will most likely not get the problem...OR.its this is a crazy idea, start your own server.
Sadly, I am just too lazy to search through the forums for this.... If I remember when I get home tonight, I'll post the filter here... it's pretty simple, only like 13 lines of code. Sadly, I will not know who to credit on it though...

No, I made a legit statement and question, you just made this a flame and wasted your time typing this out. The point of play on clan servers is to play with more experienced people and friends that are in clans. That would make some sense wouldnt it? I'm just wondering if this could be changed or altered. I never said remove reserver slots, but if 2 people who have reserved slots are in a server, and no one else is the 2 other spots are still waiting for more, others could join, and those 2 members could fill the 2 reserved slots. Also, when I go to clan servers and get past reserved slots retry after timeless retry, I usually see no members, 1 if I'm lucky. Thats all, Good night.
1. He did say <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Dont take this the wrong way<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->, so dont
2. If your friends are members of the clan, get them to kick a few people off so you can join.
3. This looks like it should be moved to the Server operators forum as it is about servers
I have absorbed groups that play on my server into our clan just out of their time they play their. As long as they are partly active, they get a reserved slots.
The server ops forum is indeed at least the appropriate forum to post this in, so give that one a try and you might find someone with a server that has slots for people that just play there a lot.
Because nobody wan't to keep good server for nothing, the clans allow other players to use them.
But as the clan members have payed for it, they have the right to play in it anytime they want. That's where
the reserved slot system is great.
Imagine yourself when you pay for your clan server and can't use it because it's already full. Not funny.

Sorry if someone has already explanied this but I cba to read everyone elses posts.
The "static" and the "dynamic" reservation.
"Static" reservations will reserve a specific number of slots for people that have a reservation.
"Dynamic" reservation will let everybody play on the server until there is only one slot left (used for accepting connections).
If a "normal" player wats to join (let's say it's a 16/17 slot situation) he will be rejected.
If a player with a reservation want's to join the connection is accepted and a "normal" player is kicked or redirected from the server.
On our Clanserver we use dynamic reservation and kick the player that played for the shortest time when it's full and a clan member want's to play.
This way is used by almost every server I know and I think it's a very good solution.
Players who complain about this usually tend to forget that:
a) Clan members pay for their servers, so playing on them is a previlege not a right.
b) Server browsers like "All Seeing Eye" or "HLSW" will show you a line named "cm_publicslotsleft" (Clanmod) or something like this, so you can see if there are any free public slots before trying to join.

Hyper
General rule of thumb: If a server has an odd number of slots, chances are it is a kicking reserve.
