Sniper Rifles In Ns

<div class="IPBDescription">I can see why maybe they won't ever be</div> Well I think this subject has been discussed before but oh well lol I got the hila to do it lol.I can see why Sniperifles may never be in NS,or I could be wrong.It may be impossible to counter aka balance it,hmm maybe a counter to a sniperifle could be stomp from onos then a gorge bile bomb or lerk spike take care of it.Although people sometimes come to rash decisions about things but they could be used for "experimentation"purposes then decide whether or not it's overpowered or enough brains to see a bigger picture lol.

    The main reason for not having them is basically because a sniper rifle would be absolutely pointless in close, cramped environments such as those in NS.

    A sniper rifle would be pathetic. there arnt the long corridors or openings that there are in counter strike. the maps are specifically dsigned to be cramped and tight : this gives the aliens a chance.

    a sniper rifle would be pointless in these condition.

    But wot about a flamethrower?? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The pistol has high damage, and pinpoint accuracy, and a sniper-rifle would encourage camping.

    I am 99% sure that it is written in some faq that someone is working on a flamethrower <i>but</i> they won't put it in if it dosen't look nice, or if it dosen't work nice. I think the plan is to make it go far in vents and spread out in wide areas.

    Why is there a scope on the LMG then?

    My Solution to the sniper rifle deal:

    Like you say their not good for up close n personal combat situations= use a different weapon like yer lmg.

    Also say yer in refinery on BAST uptop of a pipe or that one area near the hive and you see a skulk or gorge come in from the tram tunnel? i for one can with a snipe rifle,and if a lerk or skulk got in close I'd switch to my lmg.
    See? easy enough lol

    I know there are some people with "limited" visions but really if you take a real long hard look at alot of the areas on maps snipe rifles would be good.

    I was born an artist with an infinite mind of imagination and ideas.

    The scope is for use in open areas and is deactivated for this kind of mission, if I remember my NS-lore correctly.

    If you want a precise weapon, use your pistol. It's great for that kind of work (for example, the long vent leading to Cargo hive).

    The scope on the LMG has been answered sooo many times. it was put there because the gun looked a little plain without anything on top. PPl from other threads i have read have said that you are to think of it as a small on-board computer or motion sensor and not as a scope as it will never be an actual scope.

    (basically, its for looks)

    i would love to use the scope on the lmg, even if its a tiny increase in magnifaction.

    anyone ever played black hawk down?
    well in that some guns like the CAR then u can have the normal gun down to ur side and seeing the model and a cross crosshair, then right click and u get the view of a round scope and the tiny dot cross hair in the middle making it so much more accurate.

    ok found it:
    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Ideas we already know about (use search):

    Flamethrower - we know you want one. Flayra is working on it.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    It was in the suggestions and Ideas thread FAQ at the top.

    And it also mentions that sniper rifles have been considered and won't be implented because of Gameplay or Sory problems.

    And I believe the scope was put on the lmg because something had to fill that space or something like that, <i>but</i> I think a flashlight should replace it so we don't get any more questions.

    There would be no point for the scope on the LMG tbh except if it had very limited magnification (like the Steyr Aug in CS). THe LMG does not ahve the accuracy for a scoped gun. also, the corridors are usually short and cramped. this means that a scope will not enhance your view of the area as it would be impossible to see more than the tiny corridor you are in

    How many shots does it take for you to kill a skulk with cara and a LMG?

    about 19 is the answer.

    So you're going to use the scope on the LMG and shoot something 19 times? There's a reason the marines aren't using the scope, its because shooting humans and shooting aliens are two different ball games. Aliens seem to have tightly packed vital organs in a central location as well as a very hard exoskeleton. Thus, the one shot marine vs. marine kill won't work on something that's evolved specifically to counter your bullets. No headshoting something that doesn't care if you shoot it in the head. And the inate healing ability make single scrapes and such not much more than a beesting.

    And there is no way in the world to balance a one shot kill weapon in this game. Not when marines have long range and aliens have close range. Sniper rifles *probably* never in? No.... sniper rifles won't be, for the reasons listed above.

    And the LMG is getting a remodel... replacing the 'scope' with something else, to stop having people constantly ask how to use it, if it'll work in the next revision, and so on.

    So.
