Evil Trick?

<div class="IPBDescription">YEs or no</div> While playing as a la marine I came across the last fade that the alien team had. Both teams had pretty much decimated each other in an assault and the marines were busy relocating and the aliens had lost almost everything.

Rather than attempting to kill this fade outright I decided to be a little sneaky. I asked him a question over chat. While he was replying to what I said I proceded to unload a pistol clip and a lmg clip directly into him. Finishing him off shortly after that.

It was quite amusing watching him react to the bullets as he forgot that he didnt press enter and was stuck in chat. Evil?

His reply was: "Wizard I don't kn wwwwwwwwwa sdawd aw dawd...

I've heard similar stories about the same trick in DoD. Great for taking out pesky MGs <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Veeeery clever. Everything is allowed when marines are hopelessly pinned to their base by fades (except outright hacking). Won't work twice though.

This is a tactic that was originally pioneered in CS I believe (thats the first place I saw it). This is mainly a variation of the "distract your opponent" that comes from console games where people would be right next to each other while they played.

Unless there is a rule against it on the server this is a pretty good tactic.

I would never do this in any serious game. But it was a lighthearted game and we we not playing too hard. (letting one side build up after destruction so we could keep playing without resetting the map)

great tactic. even better use is for taking out snipers in other games...

"hey jobe, whats ur clan site?"
*jobe starts typing with his sniper out*

I used to do that a lot. No one on the other team talks to me now <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Another tactic I used to use in CS a lot (take militia for example) is in global chat say "Rush the sewer", as if I done it by accident. That means that the CTs rush the sewer but I've already told the team to rush top in team chat. We get them from behind <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->.

    Everyone knows it now <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->.

I used to play CS on a lan (there were a lot of people that played), and no one knew about team talk. This made it hard for us to plan strategy, and usually the only typing was while we were dead and didn't care if people on the other team knew what we were saying. Then we started playing ns on our lan (a smaller group), and then everyone learned about team talk.

Almost as good as the time (and I still don't believe I fell for this), a skulk said "Let me be your pet"

So I hunted around the map and found him... told him to follow me (like I had him on a leash) and he bit me and killed me <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

unless when it's the mating-season. Don't get in it's territory. Oh, and never get between a mother skulks and her children. I did a very similar thing a few nights ago. I was playing alien though.

So here i am playing on a big server with about 9 people on each team, the map was nancy. I just binded mouse2 to chuckle, so I sat in front of the door leading to their base and started chuckle spamming, so this guy with the name of ( came out and looked the wrong way trying to find me, i quickly dispose of him. I then move to where he was looking the other time when i see "damn you tall guy, ill get you next time" in the chat. So about 20 seconds later he comes out again and looks at where i was last time, i killed him again. Hes gettin pretty frustrated. so i go around the big rectangle thing in the middle to the door by the vent, right up on the roof. I hear footsteps so i say "prepare to die (", and right then and there someone walks by, opens the door and stops, obviously typing something. I jump down and bite him in the bottom area. Guess who it was. ). He then types "ok sure twaw"

just bind a whole set of questions and when you come close to an ennemy you can just select one of those <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'm of the opinion that if they're stupid enough to stop and type mid-game, they deserve to be nailed.
It's even funnier when someone tries this tactic, and the other fakes them out.

"Hey, snipeboy365! What's your clan-site?" *sneak sneak sneak*
    *BLAM* "www.yousostupid.com"

Same happens with the 'accidental' teamchat. Chatting that you're going to sewers... and then actually doing it when the enemy runs off to go defend elsewhere. It's alllllllllllllllllllllll about the psych-out.
  • KaniranKaniran Join Date: 2003-01-19 Member: 12465Members
The psychological game is always fun. I think Talesin's got it right though, if they are dumb enough to stop and type to you in the middle of a game, they deserve to get flayed.
