Error When Joining Game

When I try to join a game on the Gridlock server I get a "Host_error: CL_Parse_Version: Server is protocol 1701860131 instead of 46" error. What's it mean? I get into the area where I can choose what team to join but when I try to join that error appears.

I got this error a couple times while trying to connect to sl33pl3ss thru their ns.rh.rit.edu IP. I went back to the normal xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ip and it worked fine.

try that?

This happens on lots of servers i go in, i just restart comp.

i've been meaning to post a topic about this on tech support. i resolve the problem by restarting half-life, not the computer. sometimes the error occurs as i attempt to join the server, other times i can move freely in the ready room but as soon as i join a team i get kicked by that error. i've searched the tech support faqs and stickies and there doesn't seem to be anything posted about this before.

I only get this problem after disconnecting from a server then joining another one. i think that the problem is with connecting to servers with some kind of metamod plugin and then connecting to another without the plugins. i used to suspect it had something to do with cheating death but i've gotten the problem without it on so i'm sure now it is at most only partly responsible.

if anyone could shed light on this causes of this error please do.

i get this problem too and im not using ns shortcut.
it happens in all servers i join so i havent played ns until now.......

Try using cheating-death. It'll solve most of these problems. I use to have this problem alot before I started using cheating death now I'm good and I don't get those errors anymore.

Yeah, I had that same problem until I installed Cheating Death. I could move about in the readyroom but the moment I chose a team I'd get kicked with that exact same message.
