Cl_host_error?

<div class="IPBDescription">HELP ME</div> i join a server and wen im joining a team the game quits to console and it says "cl_host_error", "server is using protocol 17........... yours is 46" wat is hapening and how i solve it (im using CS retail version

    Try using cheating-death before you open Natural Selection. It solves most of those problems. If that doesn't work try resetting your computer a bunch of times before you get in.

    I find when I have this issue it is resolved by quitting HL altogether.
    When I go back in, and start the game, it is fine.

    I also notice that this seems to happen when I quit from joining a server (ESC key) just as I'm about to start the game..

    do all the above but before you madly reset your comp or try to start CD up multiple times (first check for udate by clicking "Check for Updates") make sure you have version 1.1.1.0 of Half-Life or it will not work. There should be something called "Sierra Auto-Updater" run that and make sure you get new version. When you do all of those things then just reply and tell us.
